Alicia Keys is said to be on the verge of renewing her deal with Sony Music Entertainment.
Awesome news below…
Sony’s new boss Rob Stringer is edging nearer to the end of his first year at the head of the company and, according to the reliable music industry publication Hits Daily Double, is in talks with Keys to reboot her arrangement with the RCA.
Alicia’s current relationship with RCA kicked off in 2011 after it dissolved her former label J Records and saw her drop her latest material through the company much to the delights of its profit margins.
News of her renewed ties with Sony come after she is said to have eyed a partnership with Warner Music and after her latest album, ‘Here’, failed to match the commercial glory attained by the first few albums she released under RCA.
We look forward to seeing what the near future holds for Alicia and hope she finds a label, or recording contract, she is happy with.
For, we suspect her decision to entertain conversations with Warner means she may be unhappy with how things have fared for her at Sony.
Fortunately, with R&B and its sister-genres making a commercial comeback, now is the perfect time for Keys to embrace the revival by creating music and inking deals that’ll put her back on top.
