Both tracks debuted together on April 12th and have proved resonating for the the Rap queen.
Indeed, ‘Chun-Li’ hit #10 on the Hot 100, while ‘Barbie’ blasted to a respectable #25.

The Grammys, Billboard Awards, VMA’S & AMA’S all took the category of Best Female Rap out of the awards category prior to Nicki. The genre was dead.. She single handedly made it relevant again. Records labels started having interest in the appeal of a female rap (Ask T.I hustle gang w/ iggy or Ross MMG), she was crushing records and sometimes even rapping up to par if not BETTER then some n***** (Kanye West – Monster). Whether ya’ll n***** like it or not SHE made it hot and PROFITABLE again to invest in female rap (Props to Wayne). As for Chun Li, this not her first time name dropping her or Street Fighter but as for what it means. The reference is basically the same way Chun Li (Described by Street Fighter) is a trailblazer women who despite being in a field DOMINATED by men (The rap game) are still able to persevere and strive along the Male counterparts. To address that comment, The Grammy Award for Best Female Rap Solo Performance as sited by sources was FIRST and LAST awarded in 2003 – 2004. The resurgence in this GENRE for the last DECADE is due to Nicki Minaj. People often throw her under the bus by saying that she was the “Only” female rapper present HOWEVER, this is not true. There were plenty of other women during her come up (2008 – 20009) and there were plenty around from her rise to fame (2010 – current). We can debate her attitude, her shadyness, her wrong doings all day because i am not bias BUT. The facts are just the facts..
Her Chun Li CULTURAL APPROPRIATION goes right with her Chinese tattoo.. she brought female rap “back” in the most negative way possible. Female rap was a BEAUTIFUL thing post nicki and she made it into a nasty corny thing- with generic music at that. DONE LI
