Pop legend Janet Jackson has quite the summer on her hands.
Indeed, as reported, she’s headlining several Stateside festivals and will be receiving the coveted Icon honor at the Billboard Music Awards 2018.
The 51-year-old made headlines when she announced that she was embarking on a search for new dancers to join “special projects.”
And now those projects are known, folk are being given a behind the scenes look at Jackson’s recruitment process.

Janet is a legendary artist and a legendary advocate for the LGBT community. However, I feel like her stage show would be better with more masculine male dancers and more sexier female dancers. . If she insists on using these feminine male twinks as back up dancers simply because they are low budget then she should dress them in all black and have them in the far background because currently they are very distracting and they steal some of her limelight with their queeny ways. I’m sure people (gay and straight) would rather see masculine male backup dancers rather than these twinks. I’ll use the following live performances of “If” as an example since that it a sensual dance song about a woman and a man:

2011 Tour IF Performance (This is where the problem began with her dancers). The twink dancer looks too young and more feminine than Janet and it is affecting her overall stage appearance because the twink is distracting (check the youtube comments):

2017 The Problem continued. Check the Youtube comments. It is distracting when you are watching Janet perform and your eyes have to naturally drift to the background dancers because you are trying to figure out who is a man and who is a woman:

Solution: I think Janet should hire someone like Anthony Burrell. He has the experience and he has choreographed and danced for numerous artists like Beyonce and Mariah already. I feel like Janet is being cheap in hiring these dancers off the street instead of hiring dancers with professional industry reputations already. Janet is a legend and if she would just invest more in the tour it will pay off in the long run. I saw STOW and I loved every second of it but at the same time I remenisce about her higher budget tours like Velvet Rope and All For You which were better and more fitting for a legendary singer.
Honestly, it’s the Gil influence that started to change the look of the dancers. He has too much say in Janet’s image, Tina needs to come back!?
