Rebounding into the Hot 100’s top 20 this week thanks to its cinematic video, ‘Chun Li’ – one of two singles used to launch Nicki Minaj‘s ‘Queen’ era – may see itself spin back into the top 10 after the rapstress took to ‘SNL’ tonight to show off the cut to its first television audience.
Taking over the Tina Fey-hosted episode as musical guest, Minaj not only cranked out a Kung Fu-inspired live rendition of ‘Chun,’ but also called on Playboi Carti to help bring ‘Poke It Out’ to the live stage.

Ill pass. She lip synchs too much and has a lazy stage presence for me to enjoy the performances. Chun Li has all the makings of a possible hit but she made this fake live performance of it suck.
I have no comment about poke it out, something was off about Chun Li performance. It looked like a mixture of nerves and trying to hard. This is her first high-profile perfomance in a while. You can tell it was a high production performance. She may have been better off without the theatrics. Just her, a mic, and a hype man.

The Chun Li performance has its moments, but the performance with playboy Carti was cringe worthy and I’m a Nicki fan. She dissapoints performance wise but she does give it her best effort always.

No she did not Faf. Please re-watch the video and you will see Nicki was lip-synching here. Sometimes she was too slow to hold the mic to her mouth so check it out. Her playback tracks has both studio and “live” rapping and Nicki was indeed lip-synching to it.
The second performance really wasn’t that bad.

She had improved tremendously and was really good circa 2015. Now she’s almost back to her first VMA pre-show performance in 2010. Maybe she just had an off-night.
These performances are not Queen worthy, amateur at best. How you not rap “live” on Saturday Night LIVE? If your album is ready, how you not promote YOUR song? Why did her flow on Poke It Out sound like Safaree’s Hunnid? Why the crowd only get excited when she danced or showed skin?

Wow , I’m a huge Nicki Fan and even I’m disappointed , but I’m rarely ever thrilled by a Nicki performance tbh…. for me her best was her Billboard medley .
Chun – Li was good in places , but she only rapped like 30% of the song .
She should’ve at least rapped on top of the chorus the whole time. It was too lazy for a first performance, the way she dipped in an out of rapping along was so underwhelming. Hopefully on a performance where it’s not censored she can’t rap more of the song herself .

So without the money that has been put into the stage and the dancers, this would have been nothing. She wasn’t good. She said how many words in Chun-Li? 20? The rest was the backing track. And her dance moves – they were OK, but nothing applaudable. All smoke and mirrors…
As successful they are, you can always count on Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, & Mariah Carey to give mediocre performances. They are consistent and it’s sad that neither have no stage presence whatsoever. Cardi B might have wack lyrics but she can work that stage and have rhythm. I give Nicki an (F)
