Janet Jackson‘s status as one of music’s most prolific artists continues to be saluted.
For, the legendary diva is receiving yet another honor and this time it comes courtesy of BMI, who’ve announced that the mother of one will be presented with their Icon honor at the 2018 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards.Array

In a statement issued moments ago, organisers for the event – which celebrates the year’s top Urban songwriters, producers, music publishers and administrators – revealed Jackson as its highest honoree. The ceremony, which she is expected to attend, takes place on August 30th at The Woodruff Arts Center’s Symphony Hall in Atlanta.
Speaking on Jackson’s selection, BMI Vice President Of Creative Catherine Brewton said:
“As one of the most influential entertainers of all time, Janet Jackson’s artistry and music transcends generations and has inspired many with messages of empowerment that can be heard throughout her rich catalog of music. She is the definition of an icon, and I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this honor.”
The news comes after Jackson’s recent coronation with the “Icon” and “Impact” honors at the Billboard and Radio Disney awards respectively.
It also lands as she preps to set sail on the summer leg of her blockbuster ‘State Of The World Tour.’
