Lisa Stansfield Shares Interesting Thoughts On Twerking & #MeToo

Published: Wednesday 27th Jun 2018 by David

Lisa Stansfield has some interesting thoughts on promiscuity and prostitution within the music industry and the part she feels they play in upholding structural sexual abuse.

Will you agree the Blue-Eyed Soul diva’s thoughts and feelings?

Find out below…

Via ‘The Sun’…

You’ve been quite vocal about the #MeToo campaign.

Lisa: I said women will shag anything to get on in the business, but I also said a lot of men will shag anything as well.

What makes me angry is that it can trivialise people who are really getting raped and abused.

If someone chats you up, he or she isn’t abusing you, but there are always a handful of people who make it worse for everyone else.

Have you experienced sexism in the industry?

Lisa: Only a little.I’ve taken my clothes off for videos, but it’s done tastefully.I’ve never been a twerking kind of girl. I’ve always relied on my talent.

Do you agree?

I expected her comments to be a lot worse when I read the headline but they were really kind of tame. Also, let me do a google search real quick to find out who she is.

She need to go back round the world and I, I, I, I. Twerking has long been apart of the black community long before Miley and them girls came on the scene. Bey twerks, and she can sang her face off… so what

You’re missing the whole F****** POINT. Smh yes twerking has been going on for years and is apart of our black culture, but AGAIN to Lisa is that basically all these girls have to offer to get a record deal or be famous for? In what shape or form did Whitney, Janet, Mariah, Diana, Aretha, Patti, Barbarah, Anita, Celine, ect had to twerk to be awarded their respect and acclaims?? Because Talent nowadays damn sure isn’t the MAIN FACTOR anymore. Anyone with a basic voice can be claimed a singer just as any mumbling fool a rapper today is her point. The industry both film and music are so oversexualized no wonder there’s so much accusations going too. Before Bey started twerking her and DC were not dancing as such in the beginning of the careers, it was strictly about the quality of their music which today standards are terribly low “ quality over quantity “ and lets not pretend that there isn’t people f****** to get to the top “ man and woman “ while sadly making it hard for real victims to be heard another one of Lisa’s points.

        I agree with you!!!

      • The truth June 27, 2018

        I agree too

    • Faf June 28, 2018

Yea but u shouldn’t have a record deal for twerking

If u wanna strip then do that but if that’s ur only talent why sing or rap?

Very well said. She has always had a very nice voice and her voice is her talent.

True blue eyed soul! She may only be well known by most people for one or two songs, but they don’t know what they are missing because she has many more very soulful gems. I still listen to her along with many others from that era. It’s a shame that she never received the recognition of someone like Adele because, although I love Adele, she doesn’t come close to Lisa as far as vocal range and soulfulness goes. “You Can’t Deny It”, “Affection”, “Change” and of course “All Woman” are some of my LS favs. She’s so underrated b/c most people only think of “Been Around the World”.. her biggest hit song but not her best by far.

She’s very talented & she has an amazing voice.

  7. China June 28, 2018

She is AMAZING: Little more Love, All woman, Tenderly, Affection and the best song she has ever done: Sincerity. She is Amazing.

I hope she isn’t trolled on twitter for speaking facts. She is correct that during her day, even though Madonna existed the norm was still that an artist had to have either some God-given talent or a great song. Obv’ today, neither talent nor a great song is necessary if someone with power deems you s*** enough to warrant a record deal.
