Demi Lovato sprung a surprise on fans with the release of new single ‘Sober.’

A piano-led ode to honesty, the track sees the songstress reveal “…I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore. To the one’s who never left me, we’ve been down this road before. I’m so sorry, I’m not sober…anymore.”

Granted this is unlikely to rock anyone’s radio, it does function as a powerful dose of truth from Demi and could well be the start of a much more compelling musical chapter for her.

Because, while she’s been open about her various battles in documentaries and interviews, her music (at least from a singles standpoint) have often skewed surface and designed for radio lyrically. This is quite the contrary and renders her more compelling as a result.
