That said, much like recently released ‘Like I Used To,’ this isn’t the boom, pow, pow, Tinashe needs to truly command attention in the way her talent deserves.
‘Nashe,’ as seems to be the new project’s name, is giving a mixtape vibe and, if is the case, could serve as a worthwhile transitionary measure between ‘Joyride’ and her next album.
Still, one has to wonder how long it’s going to take for her truest potential to come to fruition. Because, she’s at a juncture where she should really be swinging with her hardest, most resonating material, versus “ah, that’s a cute lil bop.” As is the case with ‘Fit.’

Tinashe is one of the most promising new artist today. All of you always find an issue with her. Her voice Isn’t good enough, the genre is not right etc
Think what you must but there is no denying her talent. How many artist in her league can say that they can write and produce their own music? She has been delivering themeatic mixtapes since before she was even signed. Let’s also not forget that Aquarius was absolutely perfect. The problem is that Stans can’t let another girl win because they want their faves to keep the spotlight. Second, if her music is so perfect, not only should she have carved out a sizable number of her own stans, but her music should be so captivating that Beyoncé/rihanna stan or not, people should be buying her music. They aren’t. Third, if it’s simply the big named female artists that have made it so impossible for Tinashe to get some market share, why isn’t Tinashe doing at least as well as SZA, Jhene, Kehlani, Solange, etc.??? And lastly, it doesn’t matter if people like a song or two of hers. A bop or two is not enough to make Tinashe a convincing potential international pop star. Period. People used to complain all the time about promo. Promo is the only reason tinashe ain’t popping off. Now it’s the stans’ fault because they don’t wanna pay for tinashe to be famous. Y’all have every excuse imaginable. It’s ridiculous.
If people don’t like her voice, why should they buy her music??? Just because she’s talented? Taylor Swift can write, that doesn’t mean I’m gonna buy her stuff when I don’t like it. If people don’t like the genre of her music, it’s just not their type of music, why should they buy it?? Very well stated. I get both arguments. I agree with much of what you said but I still feel like people are lazy to support new acts in general. People only started support Solange and Sza after the fact. Sza project was troubled and almost tank until the bandwagonors came along.
The thing is people scream and cry about wanting new artists and when they show up, people act as though they don’t have time. You may not like her voice, but will still bop to artists who you clearly aren’t listening to for their voices. My thing is, you can not like an artist, but what’s the point in showing up only to say negative things. I promise I don’t have the energy to go out of my way to speak negatively about artists I don’t favor. I simply don’t listen to them and move on. That’s not what is being done here.
