While many artists cannot boast the same, the independent route has been good to R&B songstress Mya – a sentiment she echoed on New York’s Fox 5 today.
Taking to the platform to discuss her exodus from major labels in the late 2000’s, the Grammy winner not only talked about the ups and downs of being an independent act but also dished on her latest album, ‘T.K.O.’ (in stores now), and the newest single set to drop from the set.
As if that’s not enough the 38-year-old beauty beamed when dishing on her the critically acclaimed drama, ‘5th Ward.’ Hear all this and more inside:
She is where Ashanti should be at with the independent statue
Lawd Ashanti Ashanti Ashanti!! I think she’s finding her way still!!??♂️
Wow she’s beautiful!!! She looks amazing. And she’s well spoken too. I wonder why the industry black balled her
She is doing rnb music and people don’t support rnb enough the last decade. For example I tried to get a post on here about Ellie Mae and it took three months and her song blowing up before TGJ would even do a post about her. In really moss the days when rnb was popular. Nowadays radio does not support it and consumers don’t either. All the big rnb artists flop, except Bey and Rih but they are really pop stars making pop albums not rnb.
Great interview. Her new single G.M.O. (Got My Own) comes out this Friday, August 31. It is produced by My Guy Mars (1500 or Nothin’) and Resource (Mike Will Made It’s Ear Drummer Crew). Can’t wait to turn up.
The video leaked on Tidal last night but she got it removed. I saw it and she looked amazing! The full song has also leaked early and is online.
Music business is so racist. The record companies only support RnB artists who aren’t Black
Love Mya!!!
