Mariah Carey marvelled at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Festival last night.
The diva supreme is back on the scene and gearing up for the release of her brand new album; a set which is preceded by buzz track ‘GTFO.’
Whetting appetites ahead of a busy Fall, Mimi performed the track as part of her set at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Live renditions of hits such as ‘We Belong Together,’ ‘Always Be My Baby,’ and ‘Beautiful’ were also given.

She looks and sounds amazing. This is what she’s been doing on tour for years so I’m glad she finally nailed a televised spot! Her team is really doing her a tremendous service
This is the most BEAUTIFUL she has looked since E=mc2. She looks ????. Obsessed sounded solid vocally. She needs BIG JIM WRIGHT on emotions to bring the vocal (but we heard he was fired for being a pervert on tour)
My critique of mariah is she needs better transition in her songs.. she is giving vocal runs when not needed and not giving them even needed. Example: GTFO needs more vocal runs not necessarily high notes. It’s so much instrumental just to stand there and the background isn’t really giving it either

I thought she sounded really good, especially on “We Belong Together” and “Always Be My Baby.”
Baby nobody can take those high notes away from Mariah Carey she knows her crowd and when to serve it up fresh & hot!!

Did she sound good ? Well… all the songs climax were lipped. GTFO was also fully lipped except for 2 or 3 extra adlibs she added.
I love Mariah and know her entire catalogue. Her live vocals were pure magic.
I don’t know if it’s just aging, or poor life hygiene or whatsoever but by the standards she has set for herself, she sounded ok. She doesn’t hold notes anymore, there was no « moment ».
I’m still looking forward to the album and really hope this will be a sucessful era.

« You’re delusional ». If you can’t hear it for yourself, then guess who’s the loser.
Even by the sound quality you can tell when it’s the playback tape coming in.
Example : It’s Like That, the line « just makin’ the most of life » in her higher chest register, it’s not even the song climax but this line is lipped. The ENDING (not talking about the verses, this is live) is lipped, same for Shake It Off, We Belong Together, a small part of ABMB as well. GTFO was fully lipped except for the extra adlibs she added.
She looked like this could have been 15 years ago. So good!
However, her voice was in much better shape 2 or 3 years ago. When she did the whole European tour for example. She is not killing the opening for emotions this year at any point, something she did each and ebery time during that tour.
I still think GTFO was a mistake. That catters to basically nobody that sound. Hopefully the real single is not that. Which blows my mind why they released that anyway.

WOW ? Mariah is back sounding and looking amazing. ????? Better management has seen her go back to basics with live showings which is great – people just want to hear her sing the songs well, without the re-arrangement of the vocals and remixes. She also had the right mix of backing track, background vocalist and her vocals – although something was off with GTFO, it was too sparse vocally. Anywho. SHE DID THAT ????
Mariah sounded great. It has been a long time since we have heard Mariah sound “Good”. I did not like the live version of GTFO, I would suggest she sings this acapella maybe accompanied by a simple Piano, the studio version just has too many layers as to why it probably seemed like she was lip singing when she was singing behind the layers of the track.
She looked AMAZING. The outfit was very flattering. I especially liked the 2nd look with the jacket. It seems like Mariah is falling in love with her craft again, for a while it seemed like she just wasn’t interested anymore.
Looking forward to the new album and so happy to see Mariah still giving us music especially since we have lost so many legends in the past few years.
