New Video: Nicki Minaj – ‘Barbie Dreams’

Published: Tuesday 11th Sep 2018 by Sam

Instead of shoes or fists, Nicki Minaj is letting her music do the talking. Well, mostly (#QueenRadio).

Moments ago, the rapper unleashed the video for ‘Barbie Dreams’ – a fan favorite from her recently released ‘Queen’ album.

In the visual, the femcee brings life to a puppet show as she spits sexually charged lyrics about many a famous male rap star.

With ‘Dreams’ drumming up most buzz of all the ‘Queen’ cuts, will its accompanying clip ignite its chances on the charts?

Watch below and let us know…

Simple, but it works…somewhat.

We actually feel ‘Barbie Dreams’ is one of those tracks where a video wasn’t necessarily needed.

But hey, it’s the streaming era, and every play counts. Literally.

What is this watered down “Crush on You” mess? This song was begging for an epic video. I can’t believe there was no concept for this video at all other then Nicki in different colorful wigs.

Lol I said the same thing…

What a wasted opportunity . Great song wack video

She couldn’t had lookalikes or something

The video did not have to be expensive to still get the point across.

    • Meme September 11, 2018

I the though the puppets was different for her and liked the fashion centric theme of the video. But o agree look a likes would have been dope.

Lol she wants to be Lil Kim so bad. Alexa play Lil Kim “dreams “ and “crush on you”

  5. Queen Missy September 11, 2018

She had Rah using her MetroPCS iphone4s filming this video.

    • The Empress September 11, 2018

      GAAAAAAAAAAGGING!!! LMBGAO

  6. Meme September 11, 2018

The best she’s looked in yearsssss. Her new glam squad is on point!!! Especially Tae her hair stylist. That green bob and the rainbow green tips looks were the best.

I like the video, simple yet affective.

And can we talk about this song for a min tho. I swear no other female could do it like Nicki. You have to have skill set to come up with lines about all these rappers that actually equate to their real life personas and rhyme at the same time. That’s talent!

    • Jasmine Da Bi Asian NOT Trashmine or TROLLmine??‍♀️??‍♀️B September 11, 2018

Lil Kim already did it in 96 (dreams)and 2003 (knocked out the box).. and had the wigs and furs in crush on u. Sorry girl, been there done that. NEXT

    • Jayy September 11, 2018

Nothing but facts. Nicki is one of a kind

  7. RihtheAVONqueen September 11, 2018

Ermm what on earth is this? Her videos use to be so good. She really lost her torch in the middle of this beef. Really sad actually… All her videos this era have been garbage

    • Meme September 11, 2018

Chun Libis easily would of her dopest videos, as well Ganja burn.

    • DanYiel Iman September 12, 2018

She doesn’t have a signature style that even her fools, I mean fans can find but they’ve supported her foolishness for so long it’s laughable!!

  8. Lake Erie September 11, 2018

Wow, I expected more… no concept at all. … and cameos from all of those rappers mentioned would have made this video epic. Oh well…

    • Queen Missy September 11, 2018

There was only room for her ego in the video…. Next time apologize to Queen Missy for cosigning bs from her bratz, and ask her how to make dope videos.

  9. Love is Love September 11, 2018

SLAYED! GAVE ME SO MANY LOOKS!!

  10. DIABETES UNBOTHERED ? September 11, 2018

the last half of this video atleast attempted to make up for the trajesty that waz the first half. But since Hype Willams directed it i was expecting this but MUCH better with more creative special effects. It’s hype Williams Past his PRIME paired with Nikki whom has no prime lol…

WHEN was Nikki ever truly GREAT like Missy or popping like CARDI is now ?

  11. Latinissima September 11, 2018

OMG! Except for Chun Li the videos from this era are pure trash. Her team just wasted a possible top 5 on this.

  12. Facts September 11, 2018

What in the “Crush On You” is going on? Gurl just say you’re in love with Lil Kim and you want to be friends

    • Ri Ri September 11, 2018

This video is nothing like ” Crush on You.” Y’all act like Nicki is the only female in the industry that wears colored hair. Y’all don’t compare Cardi, Remy or anybody else with colored hair to Kim. Newsflash: women been wearing colored hair before Kim and Nicki came out. In the late 90s girls was multicolored quick weaves. That was in between the Kim & Nicki era.

      • Caleb September 12, 2018

I used to be singing the same old tune as you, but if you can watch this music video and not see Lil’ Kim’s influence ALL OVER IT down to the name of the track, well then you are being willfully blind.

    • Ri Ri September 11, 2018

I was wearing colored hair in ’91. Kim didn’t come out until ’94 so I damn sure couldn’t have been trying to be like Kim. Update: wore multicolored quick weaves from the late 90s to the early to mid- 2000s. None of them were compared to little Kim. That was just the style at the time.

      • Jasmine Da Bi Asian NOT Trashmine or TROLLmine??‍♀️??‍♀️B September 11, 2018

If she didn’t copy every single thing lol Kim did, even the song then your argument could possibly be valid. But she’s literally copied lil Kim’s everything since her debut and is now singing a 96’ lil Kim song in a while lil Kim costume get up. Copying lil Kim is just always been her thing. She has done it for basically her entire career. It’s sad

  13. Molly September 11, 2018

Imma need Cardi to drop Bickenhead or Drip and end this h**

    • Ri Ri September 11, 2018

Bickenhead is garbage just like the original Chicken head that came out in the late 80s or early 90s. I bet y’all youngins thought that was something new. Nope it’s a remake just like some of her other songs.

      • Jasmine Da Bi Asian NOT Trashmine or TROLLmine??‍♀️??‍♀️B September 11, 2018

The chicken head came out in like 2000. What ru talking about you’re not older

      • Ri Ri September 11, 2018

@ Jasmine, actually it was 2001. I had it mixed up with “Bald head h***.” Anyway the song is almost 20 years old. The original was wack and so is Cardi’s version.

  14. Ms Messy September 11, 2018

The Queen of Queens, loves it ?

  15. Jackx September 11, 2018

Looks cheap and basic af. as big of a star she is her videos should epic this point in her career. not just couple wardrobe and wig changes cmon

  16. Selah September 11, 2018

Nicki could learn something from Iggy when it comes to visuals. Iggy may be a garbage rapper, but she GETS it. Nicki always gives me….CHEAP and BASIC!

  17. Ri Ri September 11, 2018

@Jasmine Biggie made it first Kim copied Biggie. Nicki remade Biggie’s version. Like I said after Kim there were plenty of girls wearing colored hair. Kim didn’t patent colored hair. Artist were wearing multicolored hair in the 70s and 80s. George Clinton, Boy George, Cyndi Lauper…

    • KillMonger Was Right (Tyler) September 11, 2018

Nicki is a clone of Lil Kim…

      • Ri Ri September 11, 2018

I beg to differ. Nicki actually looks cute with colored hair. When Kim did it, it looked more like some Halloween dress up s***. I used to rock with Kim back in the day but when that “Crush on You” video came out that s*** was not trending back then. Women were wearing colored hair before Kim. After the “Crush on You” video I didn’t see nobody walking around with blue, yellow or green hair at that time. So it’s not like she was trendsetting back then. When girls started wearing multicolored hair that was years after that video. They weren’t wearing solid colors either like in the video. They were mixtures of colors.

    • Caleb September 12, 2018

Give me a break. She’s even calling herself BARBIE in the song like Lil’ Kim did back in the day. If it weren’t for the beef people would acknowledge this video as homage to Lil’ Kim’s career.

  18. tish September 11, 2018

so the budget went all on wigs hahahahaha
    conry amateur video!

    • Ri Ri September 11, 2018

Well go and listen to them then. Nobody will be losing any sleep over your decision.

  20. DanYiel Iman September 12, 2018

She’ll be 40 busting her p**** open for her fraudulent fans funds, give it time we’ll see her in a Kim Kartrashian S** ? sooner rather then later!!??‍♂️
