If the last two weeks have cemented anything it’s that Lady Gaga is officially a star reborn.
The Pop maverick’s talent has never been in question, however her commercial viability in recent times has.
Indeed, while her artistic versatility has earned her critical acclaim during her various sound-shifts, some feel it placed her on the parameters of the charting climate rather than in the thick of it. Especially following her Jazz jaunt with Tony Bennett and stripped-back polarizer ‘Joanne’ in 2016.
However, with ‘A Star Is Born’ and its companion soundtrack, Mother Monster has delivered an emphatic answer that dispels any doubt of her Pop potency.
As reported, the set opened at #1 on the Billboard 200. And now its lead single ‘Shallow’ has shot into the upper echelon of the singles tally.
On this week’s Hot 100, the song – a collaboration with co-star Bradley Cooper – rockets #28-#5.
Its rise is powered by 71,000 digital downloads and Stateside streams of 13.4 million. Radio (which has yet to be serviced the song officially) naturally makes up the smallest piece of the success pie with 5.1 million in all-format audience.
Mirroring Gaga’s penchant for shattering the status quo, ‘Shallow’ is winning thanks largely to downloads on iTunes (where it’s been #1 for an unprecedented two-weeks. Consecutively). All during a time when streaming has emerged as the key make or break metric for most releases.
It lends credence to the notion of the “film effect.” In just 10 days, ‘A Star Is Born’ has generated $94.2 million at the box office and it’s clear the positive ripple is carrying over onto the charts.
‘Shallow’ becomes Gaga’s 15th top 10 on the Hot 100 (and Cooper’s first). The diva’s other titles with the honor include 2009’s ‘Bad Romance’ and 2017’s ‘Million Reasons.’
Gaga now ties Bruno Mars to occupy 6th place on the list acts with the most top 10s in a 10 year span.

A TRUE icon. She has done it all. Music, fashion, and now became successful in her first movie role. Gaga has officially cemented herself and it’s crazy because we all thought she was DONE after ARTPOP.. but homegirl bounced back quick and turned her career around.. not many can say they did that..
I’m pretty sure if you would’ve asked any person a few years back if Gaga would still be relevant and be making hits and major money in 2018 they would’ve said no.. Katy Perry (who has faded to irrelevancy) and Miley Cyrus (who nobody cares for anymore) overshadowed her in 2013 and now look who’s stable with a career and who’s where..
Gaga keeps proving that no matter what she releases she’s still a force in the music business, everyone wanted her to make a right and she always took a left yet she got away with it.. anybody else would’ve been done by now

Gaga is relevant and will be this relevant at least 10 years more. She is a real icon and the powerful voice of the white pop music since 2008.
