With ‘Boo’d Up’ still blazing the charts and follow-up ‘Trip’ strutting to similar success, the setup for Ella Mai‘s self-titled album is looking all sorts of lush.
But, as the set’s October 12th release draws near, the London bred star isn’t resting on her laurels.
Fresh from unlocking the LP’s tracklist, she has premiered one of its most anticipated tracks – Chris Brown collaboration ‘Whatchamacallit.’
Speaking on working with C. Breezy, Mai said:
“Vocally, he’s amazing. If he didn’t come out the way he did and make the music that he did, I think I would be a completely different artist. He’s influenced an entire generation.”

The production marries Mai’s Mustard flavored R&B with Brown’s uptempo lean. Indeed, this easily sounds like a fusion of ‘Boo’d Up’ meets ‘Loyal’ and it tastes superb.
Lyrically, it makes for an engaging listen too.

Chris Brown is more iconic than any of your fave male singers ”who debuted the same time or after”. He has definitely inspired lots of singers, he was and still is a triple threat.
I can name a whole lot of male singers who are 100% worse who are currently leading the charts ?, but I just want y’all to support #WithYou by Mariah Carey and cherish The Queen of Music ??
Chris isn’t a threat to anybody these days. He had potential but he squandered it. His vocals are mediocre. And his lyrics are redundant and repetitive. And honestly, the singers he’s inspired aren’t fabulous either. It’s not like he’s inspired AMAZING music and singers. Their music isn’t great either. The ability to inspire doesn’t make you the best. And inspiration isn’t always positive. You can inspire mediocrity. Just look at the charts.
He still makes HITS and have lots of them, there is no denying that he is a major force in the culture, his songs are known by everyone.
The guy can sing but he needs to quit with anything that affects his voice “you name it”.
And he could really really sing when he came out.
I along with millions of people still enjoy his music, you can have your baseless opinion but facts are Chris Brown is one of the greatest artists/performers.
The guy writes, sings, dances,produces, acting etc “I wish he went back to the acting”.

@mariah Bruno Mars shíts in Chris in every single way except dancing. And even Bruno Mars can slay choreography. Can Chris slay a live vocal? NEVER. Next. And we love Mariah but With You is nothing more than “angels cry” 2018 with an “I stay in love with you video”… it’s boring and redundant and she’s done it before a few times. Here’s hoping her album songs and vocals are much better cause this is the same ol same
‘With You’ does not sound like ‘Angels Cry’ it’s a good song. But Chris is just a great dancer/entertainer. Mariah sounds very good on this record. It’s just that people always want more when it comes to singing from her.
@Theman “with you” sounds very much like “angels cry”… it’s not the exact same but it is the same formula. Same set up.. same vibe. Not enough differentiation between them and the vocals are very similar ESPECIALLY angels cry. I love Mariah but this song is super mediocre and listenable.
And he’s still a billboard chart topping artist, so obviously his fans don’t mind at all!!??

So uninspired and generic ? even HE had better songs than this in his discography. And for all those criticising the new Mariah single thank god Mustard did not give Mariah this track BECAUSE THIS IS NOT IT.
