Despite having two EPs under her belt, singer/songwriter Ella Mai didn’t experience her true breakout until her third EP – 2017’s ‘Ready’ – unleashed the top 5 bop, ‘Boo’d Up.’ Since then, things have only been looking up for the Brit-born beauty as the cut’s follow-up single, ‘Trip,’ is taking a similar trip up the Hot 100’s ladder (much like its predecessor).
Now, fans awaiting more from the 23-year-old can finally get their hands on her long-awaited debut LP. As we reported here, the self-titled project features appearances from Grammy winners Chris Brown and John Legend as well as fellow rising R&B songstress H.E.R.

I like Cheap Shot, Shot Clock, Gut Feeling and Close. Too many fillers
Can’t be mad at her!! She’s doing what she loves to do!!
Gut feeling, cheap shot, Easy, shot clock, Good Bad, Dangerous and everything are faves from the album in that order
It’s a solid debut …good album good songwriting
All of the songs sounds too similar, a couple of okay tracks.
I got bored with the sound. This girls voice has NO layers. Everything she sings is with the same exact tone, inflection, expression, everything. She won’t last long if she keeps singing the same sounding songs with the same sounding voice.
I concur 100%
This is true. Although she has some cool music, her voice is very flat and monotone. She doesn’t have much vocal skill and her vibrato is annoying after a while.
