Despite sitting pretty atop this week’s Billboard Hot 100 with her the first chart-topper of her career, ‘thank u, next,’ Pop songstress Ariana Grande is already moving on to her next single.
Sending fans into a frenzy earlier this week with its announcement, Grande’s teased the slow-burning Pop ballad – titled ‘Imagine’ – as “everything ‘thank u, next’ wasn’t.” Although billed a breakup song like its #AG5 predecessor, the 25-year-old suggests instead of the gratitude ‘next’ exudes ‘Imagine’ speaks to the denial that comes after the dissolution of a romantic relationship.

I gave one listen to the first minute of Thank u Next and I really don’t understand this generations taste in music? The song is terrible! I wish Ariana would grow more into herself as an artist instead of just trying to look cute for the cameras!
Breathin was the nest song she’s put out since Into You and instead she’s promoting this mess and Thank You Next which is her weakest single to date (but people felt sorry for her). She needs to start dressing like an adult instead of a 16 year old girl and get some better material.
Also if that whistle note is real and not studio tricks why hasn’t she ever done it live? I saw her in August and girl can sing but didn’t even attempt to hit that note and nowhere near prime Mariah or X-Tina in the wow sense
Her “whistles” don’t sound good to me. I also do not understand what she is saying when she sings. I think her voice is a bit overrated. Most black female singers can sing Ariana under effortlessly so she is just made a big deal over because she is white.
If you want some blue eyed soul listen to Teena Marie. She could sang. Mariah Carey is not white…she is biracial…and if you listen to Mariah during the 90s you will notice she has that magic in her voice. Mariah could really sang.

She has gained all this momentum with ‘thank u, next’ and then she releases this? Her team must have just lucked up with ‘thank u, next’ because it’s obvious her team doesn’t know what to do with her. This song is sub-par to say the least which is unfortunate because she can actually sing.

You are clueless. Mariah is on her 15th album with a career spanning 28 years. The fact that she’s still being spoken about is amazing. We don’t even hear about Christina, let alone Katy. Ariana will flop sooner or later. No one stays on top. I can’t even imagine a 48 y/o Ariana right now.
I wish she stop singing through her nose and enunciated when she sings! Thank god for the lyrics because I never understand what she says. Cute song though
Mm. She’s could’ve kept this. It really doesn’t matter how it’s sung, it’s just not well written. It’s a mess at times and Ariana really doesn’t have the agility or the ear to properly place impactful whistle notes and runs. They sounded really random and just thrown in there for the sake of it. Overall the song is kinda bad. That being said her fans should love it.
The thing is – this is the standard of song that her fans will think is ground breaking and amazing – if you know music and knowing ‘SINGING’ this will not impress you. It’s basic even as far as pop songs go.
However – I respect Ariana because she can nail it live and if you need to see her do the whilstle watch her recent B** Live performance.
