Just two days ahead of the premiere of Lifetime’s controversial docuseries, ‘Surviving R. Kelly,’ it hit the press that one of the R&B king’s backup singers claims she saw him molest the young singer Aaliyah Haughton.
As we reported here, the vocalist – Jovante Cunningham – said Kelly “did things that an adult should not be doing with a child,” as she recounted witnessing him in bed with the then-underage Haughton.
When the story reached the desk of Diane Haughton, Aaliyah’s mother, she offered a fiery statement to defend her daughter’s honor. Claiming she’s fed up with Baby Girl’s name being “dragged through the mud with lies” as it relates to Kelly, Diane had some serious words for Cunningham. Read them below:
“The woman and so-called back up singer in the forthcoming ‘Surviving’ documentary that described seeing, meeting, or ever breathing the same air as my daughter, Aaliyah, is lying and is a liar,” Haughton’s statement, which began circulating the Internet on Jan. 2, reads. “My husband and I were always on tour with her and at interviews and every place she went throughout her entire career. Whoever this woman is, I have never seen her before anywhere on planet Earth, until now.”
“These lies and fabrications cannot be tolerated and allowed to be spewed from the forked tongue of saboteurs of Aaliyah’s legacy,” Haughton continues. “Shame on all those involved in this project who thought it kosher to drag Aaliyah’s name into a situation that has nothing to do with her today.”
I don’t believe the mother, she stated they were always together? So was she there when Aaliyah married R.Pedophilia?! ??♂️ Was it a marriage to get her those R&B coins?!!??♂️

It is quite common in black households for late teenagers to have older boyfriends or girlfriends and the parents know about it. Aaliyah’s parents knew R. Kelly. He was her producer, songwriter, mentor, sound engineer, “best friend”, boyfriend, and sugar daddy. Hell you can watch the following RECEIPT and tell immediately they were a couple so I highly doubt her parents would not know they were a couple when the body language was so strong even on TV. The real reason they got married is that Aaliyah was pregnant with his baby so the marriage is not really a big secret but rather what happened to the baby?

Kelly if they were a couple in 1994 as if it would be perfectly the norm if they were together? Do you see how comfortable all 4 of them are during the interview? BET Video Soul represented the black community in the 90s. In the video RECEIPT above Aaliyah is 15 and R. Kelly is 27. Just like I am able to see your point of view open your mind to being able to accept other people’s point of views. Fried Chicken

Ingredients
2 whole free-range, organic chickens
Vegetable oil of choice, for frying the chicken
6 cups all-purpose flour
5 tablespoons salt
4 tablespoons ground black pepper
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
2 cups buttermilk
Directions:
Cut the whole chickens into 4 b******, 4 thighs, 4 legs and 4 wings and set aside.
Preheat your oil, in either a heavy pan on the stove or a deep-fryer, to 325 degrees F.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and cayenne pepper until thoroughly mixed. Set aside.
Pour the buttermilk into another bowl large enough for the chicken to be immersed in the buttermilk.
Prepare your dredging station. Place your chicken in a bowl. Next to that, your bowl of buttermilk, and next to that, your dry mixture.
Take your b******, lightly dust them with your flour mixture, then dip them in the buttermilk until they are coated, and then place them in the flour mixture.
Take the b****** that are in the flour mixture and aggressively push the flour mixture into the wet chicken. Make sure that the chicken in very thoroughly coated, or you will not achieve the crust and crunch you are looking for. Gently place the b****** in your hot oil.
Next, repeat the dredging steps with your other pieces of chicken in this order: thigh, leg then wing.
When you place the last wing into the fryer, you should have 16 pieces of chicken in the oil. Set a timer for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, take a probe thermometer and check the temperature of a breast. If it reads 180 degrees F, all of your chicken is done. (Keep in mind that it will continue to cook after it has been removed from the fryer.)
Remove the chicken from the oil and let it drain for 5 minutes. Let cool for an additional 10 minutes before serving.
It’s her guilty conscience talking Danyiel. She must think they failed has parents, her daughter was abused right under her watchful eye and if the abuse is proved everybody starting with her pastor and ending on the bag lady from down the street will look down on her and judge her.
And as her daughter is not here to confirm or dismiss this she prefer to say it’s all lies, her daughter was never abused and died a virgin.

I agree with the mother, however it is a fact that R Kelly DID marry Aaliyah at 16 years old. Im sure the parents werent there for that hence the secrecy. So maybe you werent there for EVERY interview and tour. That doesnt make it the parents fault though. Just saying.
One fact about that marriage the media PURPOSEFULLY never reports is that Aaliyah’s was just 3 months shy of being legally old enough to marry R. Kelly outright because back then the legal age to marry on your own in Illinois was 17. If Aaliyah’s parents consented, then under Illinois law the marriage would have been legal even though Aaliyah was only 16 because the legal age to marry is 16 with parental consent in Illinois.
Another fact the media and uninformed people to understand is the laws pertaining to criminal punishment when a man in his 20s dates a late teenager. The crime itself is only considered a misdemeanor in Illinois and most other states.

Aaliyah’s mother has endured enough. All she’s saying is that she and Aaliyah’s late father traveled with Aaliyah PROFESSIONALLY (tour, interviews, radio, live performances, etc.) Diane never said she followed Aaliyah everywhere in her personal and private life.
