“I want it, I got it.”
Ariana Grande has done it once again! For, the songbird has soared to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with latest single ‘7 Rings.’
Full story below…
In an unprecedented development, the catchy cut not only serves as Grande’s second chart-topper, it’s her second single to debut at #1. Both previous honors were reserved for the track’s predecessor ‘Thank U, Next.’ The latter of which reigned for seven non-consecutive weeks.
So how did Ari do it this time?
‘Rings’ proved a streaming beast, racking up 85.3 million US streams during this tracking week.
The total serves as the second-biggest streaming week ever for a song by a female artist; in a testament to her slayage, Grande herself holds the pole position with ‘Next’ which tallied 93.8 million in the week ending December 15th 2018.
On the sales side of the equation, ‘Rings’ amassed 96,000 digital downloads this week; the best for a song in six months (since Drake’s ‘In My Feelings” sold 104,000 back in early August).
Still building at radio, the song commanded a first week Stateside audience of 27.5 million. A figure sure to increase in light of its success on every other consumption format.

Needless to say, this all sets up ‘Thank U, Next’ the album for instantaneous success upon its arrival on February 8th. Because, it’s a project that – both sonically and commercially – is shaping up to be the real ‘Sweetener’ Ari’s been on the hunt for.
Congrats!
