Ariana Grande Scores Second-Ever #1 On Hot 100 With ‘7 Rings’

Published: Monday 28th Jan 2019 by Sam

“I want it, I got it.”

Ariana Grande has done it once again! For, the songbird has soared to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with latest single ‘7 Rings.’

Full story below…

In an unprecedented development, the catchy cut not only serves as Grande’s second chart-topper, it’s her second single to debut at #1. Both previous honors were reserved for the track’s predecessor  ‘Thank U, Next.’ The latter of which reigned for seven non-consecutive weeks.

So how did Ari do it this time?

‘Rings’ proved a streaming beast, racking up 85.3 million US streams during this tracking week.

The total serves as the second-biggest streaming week ever for a song by a female artist; in a testament to her slayage, Grande herself holds the pole position with ‘Next’ which tallied 93.8 million in the week ending December 15th 2018.

On the sales side of the equation, ‘Rings’ amassed 96,000 digital downloads this week; the best for a song in six months (since Drake’s ‘In My Feelings” sold 104,000 back in early August).

Still building at radio, the song commanded a first week Stateside audience of 27.5 million. A figure sure to increase in light of its success on every other consumption format.

************

Needless to say, this all sets up ‘Thank U, Next’ the album for instantaneous success upon its arrival on February 8th. Because, it’s a project that – both sonically and commercially – is shaping up to be the real ‘Sweetener’ Ari’s been on the hunt for.

Congrats!

    • K January 28, 2019

      Lmao

    • uhm, yeah January 28, 2019

No, she had payola working from the start. I’d say, payola starting to work perfectly.

    • Chica January 29, 2019

It’s not payola. It’s sympathy hits. A fake engagement, an ex who committed s****** and then she made s song about it all for publicity.

  2. Culture Vulture Grande January 28, 2019

Cheers to cultural appropriation!!! How a wack song goes to number one is beyond me…oh wait, that is half of the number one hits since 2010.

    • I can’t January 28, 2019

I’m saying. The question is not why is this the song to go number 1 instead of some of her other singles, the question is why is it number 1 instead of all the BLACK PEOPLE who did this already???

      • Shayla Queen January 28, 2019

        Shut it bish

      • I can’t January 28, 2019

^^^this is her audience. I guess that answers my question.

  3. DanYiel Iman January 28, 2019

I don’t find this song great to hear..??‍♂️

  4. CHINA January 28, 2019

Breathin was her REAL VOCAL and INSPIRATIONAL cut and got no love. The last two songs are Garbage. This girl is over-rated

    • Meme January 28, 2019

Agreed. Still angery at how they didn’t push breathing. It’s the most beautiful song I’ve heard in a long time

      • CHINA January 28, 2019

BREATHING COULD HAVE BEEN HER “hit” that had staying potential. But they continue to release song after song trying to make this girl have CHART ENTRIES. Woman of the Year???? for what? She did NOTHING last year. HER LABEL BROUGHT THAT AWARD. I call FOUL

    • Fancy BISH January 28, 2019

Overrated as all hell..didn’t Monica have THREE back to back (CLASSIC) #1’s during her second album era? And I bet you cash money she didn’t get the amount of articles, coverage and (fake) Woman Of The Year awards that pink trap house Barbie received with two lackluster, gone tomorrow singles! Her last album flopped HARD, especially considering she’s in her prime (Bey, Rih, Adele and Tay Tay would never)…but yet she’s this “pop star” SMH

      • Whoops January 28, 2019

Exactly, and that’s whats so weird about all of this. She’s not impressive in any area. It’s so wild that she’s overrated but underperforms at the same time. Like, what? How are you overrated but aren’t selling albums, aren’t a touring force, and it took this long to get one number 1, let alone two?? That’s how you know when the hype is manufactured.

      • Monica’s Dove January 29, 2019

Yes, Monica did and never received her flowers. Ariana has had much better songs. Great vocalist, mediocre artist.

  5. LUCKI January 28, 2019

    This song SUCKS!!!!!

    • Shayla Queen January 29, 2019

Not as hard as you on your knees do! Go rest them raw knee bones bihhhhhh

  6. truthteller January 28, 2019

She’s the new Justin Timberlake. Her Man in the Woods era will come

    • Meme January 28, 2019

      This comment is stupid

    • Lol January 28, 2019

That album debuted at #1 and his tour has made $155 million and it’s not even over until March. You sound stupid.

  7. Fancy BISH January 28, 2019

    Nope lol ?

  8. lucy fur January 28, 2019

the system is broken. no wonder older artists get bitter

    • Shayla Queen January 29, 2019

Them dusty b****** bitter cuz they stank old h***

  9. Seth January 28, 2019

How is this garbage going to #1 when Into You, Side to Side, Problem, Break Free etc etc were 1000000x better bops and didn’t? Her 2 #1 are 2 of her worst singles to date sonically.

This is def about being an insta famous THOT rather than putting out quality

    • CHINA January 28, 2019

A THOT? SHES BUILD LIKE A 12 YEAR OLD BOY IN HEALS AND A PONY-WIG. I NEED RECEIPTS THAT SHE’S A “REAL” GIRL

      • SMH January 28, 2019

        Now you’re just being stupid.

  10. Lol January 28, 2019

So Love Me Harder didn’t go number 1 but this trash does? I’m convinced her fans only pushed this just to cover for all the bad press she’s gotten in the past year.

  11. Shayla Queen January 28, 2019

This bop made me give man my ring 7 times

  12. thanosoftitan January 28, 2019

This completely boggles my mind. ‘7 rings’ is her absolutely worst song to date. How in the heck did this song make it to anybody’s #1?

  13. Stephy January 29, 2019

Congrats on her success. I still think she’s hella overrated tho.
