‘The Lion King’ Soundtrack Tracklist Revealed / Confirms New Beyonce Music

Published: Monday 24th Jun 2019 by Sam

‘The Lion King’ is set to charge into cinemas worldwide on July 19th.

Before then, though, the mass appetite for music from the movie will be catered to with the release of the film’s official soundtrack.

Given the key roles of Beyonce and Donald Glover (they play Nala and Simba respectively), colossal interest has surrounded the song component of Disney’s live-action remake of the 1994 classic.

For much of the lead up to flick’s release, those details have been kept under wraps.

But that all changed today when the official release date and tracklist were uncaged for ‘The Lion King’ original soundtrac.

Details below…

It has been confirmed that the digital version of the soundtrack will arrive on July 11th, while the physical CD will follow a week later on July 19th (the day the movie hits theaters).

As previously reported, Lion King staples Lebo M, Tim Rice, and Hans Zimmer will have a heavy hand in the music for the updated take on the film. So too will Elton John, who contribute an all-new track titled ‘Never Too Late.’

But what of Queen Bey?

You’ll notice below that Track 14 reads “TBA.”

Well, word is that it is indeed Beyonce’s solo original song.

In an interview with Fandango, director Jon Favreau not only confirmed that – much like the stage play of ‘The Lion King’ – Nala will have an increased role in this movie.

He specifically said of the new material the diva moulded:

“It doesn’t replace anything. We have all the original songs, but there’s a song that she performed and wrote in the spirit of the production along with working with Lebo M., who’s part of it with Hans Zimmer. They were all collaborating with her and helping to bring this new piece of music into a film where there’s already a very established musical personality to the piece. So it was nice of them to have them working with her to allow the new song to feel organically a part of the new production.”

  2. Kerry Johnson June 24, 2019

I mean I guess , when she gonna release a new album. I could care less about a soundtrack single.

  3. Jasmine June 24, 2019

LOL How do u have a superstar like Beyonce on a project and not use her to record lots of songs on the soundtrack? The movie ‘Dreamgirls’ got it right on how to use Bey on a Soundtrack. The original Lion King soundtrack had superstar Elton John on at least 5 or 6 songs plus Elton wrote multiple songs for the soundtrack.

Because the lion king isn’t about beyonce abdvthe beyonce. Beyoncé’s target audience is not the lion kings target audience so who would care. Duh TROLLmine

    • shawn June 25, 2019

ugh becuz the lion king is a bigger deal than just beyonce all by herself. I wish you q***** would get out of her ass

      • truthtea June 25, 2019

THANK YOU, Shawn! Not everything needs to be turned into all about Beyonce! And btw, the reason Beyonce was on most of the Dreamgirls soundtrack is because that is the first and only film adaption of Dreamgirls and there’s no previous soundtrack to it.

      • Jasmine June 25, 2019

I asked a simple question. If my question compelled u to be nasty and vile then I am ur master. Next time I’ll ask a question that will compel u to coooon for me since I control u.

    • Unnatural June 25, 2019

Yeah because this is a live remake of an animated classic and not much else needs to be retweaked. The original songs will do thank you. It’s enough that shes just a voice over. Besides the movie not about beyonce. Never was.

  4. lucy fur June 24, 2019

translation the song was already written and given to her

  5. Ratedxxx June 24, 2019

I stopped reading after “she wrote”…
Bish about to get sued again….

Her voice is so darn annoying…trying so hard to sound like a vocalist

    • Alex June 24, 2019

  7. Fancy BISH June 24, 2019

The original 1994 soundtrack is certified Diamond ? in the United States and sold over 16 million copies worldwide! ?? I’m excited to hear the new version of this classic! Come through King ? lol

    • JOHNVIDAL June 25, 2019

It´s the biggest animated film of the last 40 years.

      • WIll_xo June 25, 2019

And it certifies Beyoncé’s excellence, star power and talent to be such an integral part of this movie m

  8. Clarkson June 24, 2019

Beyonce trying to win best original song at the oscars like lady gaga. It’s never gonna happen.
Beyonce everybody knows u dont write ur songs. Ur not a composer like gaga or sia or sza or diana Gordon (who wrote the only 3 good songs on lemonade).

Stop stealing song writing credit. Changing one or two words does not make u a song writer. Thief

    • My third eye June 25, 2019

She wrote songs that are diamond certified on destinys child albums. Why wouldn’t she not know how to write music!

      • SMH June 25, 2019

Lmao thats a damn lie and you know it. She doesnt write anything and destinys child doesnt have a diamond certified anything. Just stop lol.

      • JOHNVIDAL June 25, 2019

I agree with SMH: stop on all fronts LOL

    • Jasmine1999 June 25, 2019

Changing one or two words..adding melodies etc allows her to have a song writing credit. Something you know nothing about.

  9. What would Whitney do. WWWD June 24, 2019

She really getting Whitney the voice Houston left overs. And for real I would rather watch Cinderella w. Her and Brandy. Beyonce just doesn’t have the pipes in 20; years..I see why Mariah signed to roc.. cause Beyonce who cannot even breathe like Whitney… when she sing

    • JOHNVIDAL June 25, 2019

LOL You made laugh with this one Whitney “fan”.

  10. Paulo June 25, 2019

Hmmm. When they said original music I thought we’d get more than just one song from Bey and another from Granny Elton but I’m excited nonetheless

  11. AdeleFan June 25, 2019

Wait so Beyoncé only on 1 song n it’s a damn cover.. No Oscars for her

  12. #TheTruth June 25, 2019

I’m shocked she’s only featured on 2 songs. Well officially 1 and the other one we heard about for the end credits.
I agree with what has been said. If you have a superstar, you might just as well take advantage of it.
Elton John was featured on more songs.

    • JOHNVIDAL June 25, 2019

Elton is a songwriter and the soundtrack was new and about to explode back then.

  13. Brent Christopher June 25, 2019

I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY that Disney & the associated powers that be are NOT allowing Beyonce to take over & crowd the soundtrack with a slew of individual efforts. I’m glad that this soundtrack isn’t being overblown as the second coming of Jesus Christ’s pomp & circumstance. Beyonce being a part of this project has added some extra attention, but let’s remember that LION KING is a classic film with an already built in audience. The project should NOT have been touched in the first place, honestly speaking.

There will be NO industry awards or accolades for this overall musical component & im glad of it.

There’s nothing special about the Beyonce/Gambino collaboration that we’ve already been privy to.

    • ….. June 25, 2019

Still so bitter woth these essay comments. Let it go man let it go.

      • SMH June 25, 2019

But did he lie? Nope, not a single one spotted.

      • JOHNVIDAL June 25, 2019

        Brent didn´t lie.

  14. Tyty June 25, 2019

People are only interested in hearing her song all the other stuff just updated versions of things we’ve heard before. By not being all over the album she made the sole focus go on her. With the reception of just a clip of her song with Donald Glover only a baffoon with delusions will think otherwise. So now everyone’s interested in her solo song including the haters writing essays but will be front and centre when it’s released. But claim she is “boring” and “uninteresting”

  15. Haterz Gon‘ Hate June 25, 2019

This says a lot. It looks like this isn’t going to be a Lady Gaga-esq Star-Is-Born all out 12 month sound track promo campaign. Meaning, her own new album will not be so far behind so she can commit to.

The ROI of 6 tracks on this soundtrack means she would have to promote in some way and conceptualise live performances – all of which means a bigger gap between such a commitment and her own new material.

    It’s all good ?

  16. Julien June 25, 2019

Heart of a Lioness is the rumored title

  17. #TheTruth June 25, 2019

I don’t know if the rumors are true but it was said she accepted being part of the cast only if she would executive produce the soundtrack.
She had in mind to do a African influenced album (hence Grown Woman) but she ended up cancelling the idea. And keep that aside for the OST.
Well… it looks like she won’t go far.

I agree with the fact the movie already has a huge fanbase and that it was on track to be a success.
But Disney doesn’t want a hit movie, they want a blockbuster with this one. Having Beyoncé attached to it is a lot of extra attention.
Many shows, blogs, social medias etc. talked about that little trailer where she is vocally featured. Expectations are high but 2 songs isn’t quite a lot…

Hopefully her end credits song isn’t a pop record. I hope it is something challenging vocally, with an African choir and traditional chants.

  18. pat June 25, 2019

this is a Disney classic.. they’re smart enough not to turn this into a beyonce movie and force it down the gp’s throats just for the beyhive

    • SMH June 25, 2019

Exactly, the original Lion King grossed over $1B. Its already a blockbuster without her.

  19. Lol June 25, 2019

She’s only on 1 song. Calm down. And we’ve heard it already. What a sorry excuse for a website.

    • JOHNVIDAL June 25, 2019

      Exactly.

  20. Brandyfan87 June 25, 2019

I’m so excited between this & Brandy’s new music the summer will be lit!?

  21. Brandyfan87 June 25, 2019

Brandy Slayanna Norwood is coming back!

  22. JOHNVIDAL June 25, 2019

Only in a pucking song???? LOL All this hype for that? Bitchhh this is not more than Celine´s recent´s new songs for some blockbusters like Beauty and thye Beast and Deadpool. Thankk God though.

The real star of the music in this film is Hans Zimmer anyway. Her memorable score for the original one is revived by himself here it seems. At least they will give us that. Elton John´s original songs for the animated film were amazing too. Best Disney soundtrack ever. And clearly the most successful too.

Not here for all these forgettable remakes who are only here to make money but have zero impact because the impact was already provided by the original ones.

How can you be so excited for only one song, and having already heard a part which clearly indicates how it is going to sound overall anyway?? 🙂
