Lauryn Hill Apologizes After Furious Glasgow Fans Slam Her Extreme Tardiness & Short Performance

Published: Sunday 4th Aug 2019 by Rashad

If New Jersey-born singer Lauryn Hill has admitted (and repeatedly proven) her energy has difficulty aligning with the time zones of her native country, what chance in hell did European fans think they’d have of enjoying a prompt arrival from the R&B diva?

The above are among the questions circulating around TGJ HQ as tweets come flooding in from hundreds of outraged attendees of Saturday night’s Playground Festival at Glasgow, Scotland’s Rouken Glen Park (August 3).  Hill, among the headliners, was reportedly scheduled to hit the stage at 9:30p local time.  She not only missed her time slot by an hour, but did not show up until 30 minutes before the event’s curfew and – as a result – had to shorten her set to a measly half hour.

Performing six songs through boos, jeers, and disappointment, the singer informed the crowd her tardiness was due to celebrating her son’s birthday (Zion David Marley born August 3).  A day after fielding slams of ‘rip off’ and ‘con artist,’ Hill took to social media today to lend a ‘sincere’ apology.

Read it inside:

Hill – currently on the road in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the release of her groundbreaking debut album ‘Miseducation’ – has been plagued with criticism for excessive tardiness to and even absenteeism from many of the shows on its list of dates.  More times than not, the songstress has taken to social media to offer an apology and blamed some circumstance out of her control as the reason for the mishap.

Ay yi yi! We can only hope future shows do not know a similar fate.  As indicated in her post (seen above), her time in Europe for the trek has ultimately just begun.
