H.E.R. may be renown for her introspective and lovelorn lyrics, but the rising star continues to prove that she’s all sorts of versatile.
Case in point new song ‘Slide.’
The YG assisted jam sees the 22-year-old skew sensual over hard-hitting production.
Take a listen below…
This knocks, all the while staying sonically in-sync with the mature rooting of the two-time Grammy winner’s output.
And while we continue to have some of her more renown numbers on replay, we appreciate the diversification in sound and subject matter. For, it has us anticipating that debut full-length album all the more.
I like. It’s different for her, but I would love to hear her do different things with her vocals.
Yeah… she’s been kind of laying low key on the vocals since her debut. …
She’s just….boring. Not for me, but this at least has some bounce.
HER is incredibly bland, monotonous and overrated. The song has potential, but would’ve fared better if a more colorful vocalist sang it.
While I disagree with the notion of HER being overrated, I do see how the complaints of “boring” and “monotonous” can be levied based on current musical output. Her recorded and released material thus far is more “vibe” than “hype”. I will continue to be a fan but I’m also looking for something different as she evolves. I will pass on this single, tho…
While her most trendy commercial offering yet, it’s also her worst. HER can do much better than this.
Boring
This song is two steps back.
Very nice.
