Mariah Carey is looking to let her ‘Glitter’ sparkle once again.
The 2001 album didn’t receive the warmest of responses upon its release (against the backdrop of societal strife), however has become a cult classic in the years since.
Its renewed popularity led to the #JusticeForGlitter movement last year and now it looks as though Mimi has broader plans…
Referring to the LP’s lack of availability on retail, streaming, and physical outlets, the diva supreme promised she’s working behind the scenes to re-release the project for wide consumption:
Can’t believe it’s been one year since the lambily got #justiceforglitter ??? That was a moment! I promise you I’m working hard to make it available for download and streaming ? pic.twitter.com/wWc7eUVeKX

We’re here for it! Maybe a 2021 roll-out to celebrate its 20th anniversary? It’d be a timely tie-in.
Pending additional details, check out some of our fave ‘Glitter’ moments…
LMAO, just no. Stop embarrassing yourself Mariah, Glitter flopped back in a time when people were still buying albums, what do you think its gonna do in this streaming age lol. Dont let your lambs fool you into thinking people want this just because it went to #1 on itunes lol.
You realize that Loverboy off that album is a #2 Billboard Hot 100 and #1 R&B certified smash on the charts when it was released, right??? That same soundtrack was Number 1 on the Soundtrack chart and sold over 2,000,000 copies worldwide…when people were still buying CDS????? And it also shocked the industry by killing it on iTunes, 16 years after it’s release. All of her albums are available but that one. Who being embarrassed by her getting it on streaming platforms. Stop being a hater!
The only reason Loverboy went to #2 is because her record label sold it for 49 cents back in the day making it the cheapest cd/cassette single ever sold! I bought it for that price tag. They were so desperate for it to be a hit after they invested millions into her and it wasn’t performing well they wanted the song to push up the charts.
@gworl bye
Do you realize that that whole era flopped due to it’s proximity to the events of SEPTEMBER 11 2001?????
I am not a big ole Mariah fan in the least, but let’s call a spade a spade…. that movie and soundtrack would have done much better had it not been for 9/11/01. so please stop it
I don’t think it has anything to do with 9/11.
The real main issue was the fact she treated this a solo release + soundtrack while the movie tanked.
And it was her first role ever. She became the joke of the moment and the album got caught up in the movie’s flop.
Before you step into a new venture, you have to take baby steps. Get second roles and experience before being the star of the movie.
She should have released a proper soundtrack including herself and other artists.
And separately release an album not linked to the movie. Her career would have suffered from the flop anyway and also her weird behavior like on TRL.
Remember glitter was released when the world was going crazy September 11 had just happened Aaliyah had just died and their was the anthrax scare so glitter was released at a really bad time and I wish people would realize that
Im sure fans want a new album with new material and not a rehash of Glitter.
Making it available for download/streaming does not mean a re-release, TGJ.
I agree.
The clickbait is so shockingly REAL on this site. SMDH ?
Exactly, ya’ll are a MESS at TGJ.
I remember I found the album at Walmart around 2005. I still have it to this day!
I still have Glitter right on the CD shelf! ✅
Glitter was a decent movie with a great storyline. I’m here for it and MiMi. ❤️ and Wise girls too
Can talk stop all these damn pop-ups???‼️ geez….can’t even watch apple TV in peace.
