The Pop star’s new album ‘Changes’ has opened at #1 on the coveted count.
It has done so with 231,000 (Sales Plus Streaming) units, 126,000 of which were pure sales.
Serving as the star’s first album in five years, it follows 2015’s ‘Purpose’ which premiered with 649,000.
As many of Bieber’s legions of followers will have noticed, he mounted an aggressive push for pole position – unleashing a series of CD, vinyl, and merchandise configurations. As well, as an album/tour-ticket bundle.
Having launched the LP with ‘Yummy,’ which peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, the task now will be to maintain the era’s momentum and build the project into one with legs.
Latest single ‘Intentions’ featuring Quavo has thus far peaked at #11.

I can only imagine how much the label spent on marketing alone.
As much as I hate this album and dislike JB, it’s clear the label didn’t spend much on the promo for this album. He did SNL, some Instagram posts, a pic with the dude with the sign, a performance today at Kanye’s Sunday service, and that’s it. They didn’t even try payola for the singles like they did last time. He’ll break even with the tour but it’s clear (in my opinion) that the label didn’t promote the album well. They probably think the music sucks too

Justin had of the most heavily promoted albums in years. You most be on crack to think the album wasn’t promoted. He did a whole docuseries.
The docu-series was on YouTube and in my opinion was cheaply produced. And honestly, not many people have been talking about it (in my opinion). Regardless, I don’t like or support Justin Bieber – he’s a racist. No racist in 2020 deserves success. I said what I said. Cancel Justin. Only downhill from here

This is an underpermance in way unless it continues to stay steady. His single didn’t do enough for the album. Also, these numbers are lower than what they were initially going with.
The album sucks and does NOT deserve to be #1. It’ll only be downhill for his sales, watch. Only downhill for Taylor too after Lover…watch.
But remember even with her underperforming singles Me and YNTCD Lover still did 867k SPS.
I wouldn’t count Taylor out just yet.
Taylor isn’t a certified flop yet, but the sales for each album from here on out will be a significant decline. Hell, even lover was a significant decline from reputation in sales. 1989 was her peak and purpose will be Justin’s peak.
