It’s third album time for Sam Smith and the Pop star is wasting no time lifting the lid on the hotly anticipated project – which now has a confirmed title, ‘To Die For.’

Arriving three years after sophomore set ‘The Thrill Of It All,’ the album will arrive via Capitol on May 1st.
Speaking on the set, Smith said:
My THIRD album TO DIE FOR is yours May 1st!!!! You can preorder tomorrow. I‘m more proud of this album than anything I’ve ever done. I’ve really set myself free the last two years whilst writing this & I hope you can dance and relate to these stories. It’s all for you, always xx
The album is preceded by singles ‘Dancing With A Stranger (w/ Normani)’, ‘How Do You Sleep?,’ and its title track – which is believed to arrive tomorrow.
‘Die For’ serves as Smith’s first project release since coming out as non-binary.

Great that he’s found his identity – I really hope the music is QUALITY and we are reminded of such because I wasn’t ever checkin’ for Sam until HDYS and DWAS which sonically was better that a lot of what was on the charts. If he turns in a confused directionless album of sub par work people will forget about streaming that mess quicker than you can say which child singer had 8 versions of her non no.1 sophomore album cover.

I like how artists are slowly but surely returning to traditional rollouts. Surprise releases are cute but burn out too quickly. I miss the days of anticipating a project.
You have a great point but in streaming era where releases peak and fade quickly I think both him and Dua Lipa are making a mistake of releasing their albums too far from the singles
