‘Stupid Love’ – the first single from Lady Gaga‘s forthcoming sixth album ‘Chromatica’ – has proven itself quite a smart musical move for the Pop diva.
As we reported here, the BloodPop-produced song – which premiered February 28 – debuted at #5 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100, her highest premiere placement in 9 years.
In addition to becoming her 16th top 10 hit, its arrival on charts also comes as a history-making feat as it makes her only the second female to date to have nabbed a top 10 single in each of the last three decades (2000s, 2010s, 2020s).
Look inside to learn more about this unique honor:
“…Gaga, who first hit the Hot 100’s top 10 with her first No. 1, “Just Dance,” featuring Colby O’Donis, in December 2008, becomes the fifth artist to have ranked in the top 10 in the 2000s, ’10s and ’20s, following Mariah Carey, Drake, Eminem and Maroon 5.”
Gaga’s inclusion in the exclusive club is all the more impressive as its current occupants are also the only acts to have scored top 5 hits over the same time period. With love from radio, streaming, and digital downloads continuing to pour in, the Grammy winner could see herself following in the steps of Carey by launching ‘Love’ to #1.
Note: Carey is the only artist to have had a #1 single in each of the past three decades (as of time reported). Click here to read more on that.
