When Azealia Banks condemned America’s treatment of African-Americans she was met with silence, and in some cases criticism, from her peers in the entertainment today.
Today, she is one of the many musicians stepping out to critique the music industry’s response to the murder of George Floyd and the protests it has sparked.

In a series of posts published on her Instagram Story, Banks slammed her peers for publicly condemning anti-blackness while engaging in it behind the scenes for financial gain.
In one story, she blasted some members of the African-American celebrity circle for publishing social media posts condemning racism while banking on it privately to derail the careers of their rivals.
She also condemned them for doing little to protect her after she was allegedly attacked by Russell Crowe.
Eyewitnesses verified her version of events some time later.
She isn’t the only one who feels the industry has more work to do.
Tory Lanez had this to say…
And to any of my black peers in this entertainment industry …. if your opinion on this matter at hand is ANYTHING along the lines of “ we need to blame ourselves … and it’s not the cops fault “ or “u gotta look at both sides” .. personally from me to u … FUCK OUTTA HERE

Also confused by the industry’s response? Louis York.
Pls miss us with the major record label “we stand with you” posts. They have NOTORIOUSLY abused black talent and stolen to benefit white artists. That IS the design of the industry. There is not a black artists EVER who has been paid or awarded what they are worth.
Late AF.— Louis York (@LouisYorkMusic) May 31, 2020
We been fighting for equal pay, equal exposure, better representation, better contracts, ownership of our craft, fair award ceremonies, non-biased radio & streaming plays, in biased genre reporting. BEEN FIGHTING, since Little Richards heyday.
y’all are late as fuck.— Louis York (@LouisYorkMusic) May 31, 2020
In general, all the new ideas, songs, platforms, dances, etc that black artists will make in honor of this troubled era will be owned, controlled, used & abused by everyone but blacks people in the music industry.
Please.— Louis York (@LouisYorkMusic) May 31, 2020
A day of silence ain’t changing the outdated laws on The Hill that disproportionately hurt black musicians. It doesn’t change the shitty contracts still being offered to starry eyed young geniuses, or the stolen publishing, the unfair algorithms, the racially coded “genres” etc.

when we say not one black musician has ever been compensated fairly for what they’ve truly contributed to this country we mean NOT ONE.
Not MJ, not Beyonce, not Prince, Not Mariah, not Quincy, not Whitney, not Aretha, not Diddy, not Rihanna, not Motown…all the way down the list— Louis York (@LouisYorkMusic) May 31, 2020
If “silence is not an option” then talk about some real shit. Keep that same energy to do something about the “knee on the neck” of minority creatives.
….Cuz most of them can’t fucking breathe!— Louis York (@LouisYorkMusic) May 31, 2020
Beyonce wished normani a happy birthday on her website. 🤣
What does this have to do with the fact that cops are shooting rubber bullets in the face of women who look just like Normani?????
Back in the day haters who were the first to comment on Beyonce articles, her fans would say “Beyonce rules your mind! You were posted up before me!”
WHY do you know everytime Normani breathes for someone who has such disdain for her???? You need mental help! You woke up Monday Morning to report on someone you claim to not like!
They shouldn’t be out there so if they get shot with rubber bullets oh well that’s the risk u take when u loot n burn s*** up
DC shut up you don’t know what you’re talking about. There’s so many videos of police attackjng people who are protesting peacefully
You can’t tell people what to do with their fingers! They worked hard for those fingers! They are free to use their fingers to support if they WANT TO. Stop counting celebrity’s fingers!
– Many who don’t care and want it to “just go away”.
So do we but it’s STILL going on. I always heard that the media warped things but seeing the stark contrast of live video by protestors and what the news reports there is clearly an agenda to make this about Black people being violent and therefore only good as dead.
Did you leave this message because your mom wipes back to front?
Tory is wrong. There is work to do on BOTH sides with regard to valuing black lives. What is he doing for the cause besides rapping about p****, money and hittin licks?

Azealia Banks has a well documented history of being a racist, anti-LGBT bigot. She doesn’t even like other Black women! I don’t know why folks always try to summon that psychotic she-demon whenever they wanna drag a non-Black person. She is the literal definition of problematic and toxic!!!
