Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande have done it!
For, their single ‘Rain On Me’ has made a thunderous debut atop of the Billboard Hot 100.
Full story below…
Lifted from Gaga’s sixth studio album ‘Chromatica,’ the anthemic bop premieres at #1 on the coveted count – bumping last week’s winner, ‘Savage (Remix)’ by Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce to #2.
‘Rain’s almighty splash was powered by the following first week US metrics:
- 31.4 million streams
- 72,00 downloads
- 11.1 million multi-format radio audience
The track becomes Gaga’s fifth time at the summit of the Hot 100, with her previous win coming in the form of 2018’s ‘Shallow’ – which reached the mountain top of the chart following its Oscar performance last year.
For Grande, ‘Rain’ serves as her fourth #1 and second in two weeks (she recently topped the tally with Justin Bieber collab ‘Stuck With U’).
Most notably, it means that all of the songbird’s Hot 100 #1’s have premiered in said spot. A huge historical feat in and of itself.
The star now becomes the only artist to debut at #1 four times – powering past Mariah Carey, Justin Bieber, and Drake who she previously tied at three a piece.
It’s Gaga’s second time opening at #1; her first being ‘Born This Way’ in 2011.
Mother Monster now earns the honor of being one of just three soloists to land #1s in three separate decades (00s, 10s, 20s). She joins Mariah Carey and Beyonce on said list.
Huge congrats! The song is all sorts of deserving.
