Hot 100: Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande Make History As ‘Rain On Me’ Debuts At #1

Published: Monday 1st Jun 2020 by Sam

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande have done it!

For, their single ‘Rain On Me’ has made a thunderous debut atop of the Billboard Hot 100.

Full story below…

Lifted from Gaga’s sixth studio album ‘Chromatica,’ the anthemic bop premieres at #1 on the coveted count – bumping last week’s winner, ‘Savage (Remix)’ by Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce to #2.

‘Rain’s almighty splash was powered by the following first week US metrics:

  • 31.4 million streams
  • 72,00 downloads
  • 11.1 million multi-format radio audience

The track becomes Gaga’s fifth time at the summit of the Hot 100, with her previous win coming in the form of 2018’s ‘Shallow’ – which reached the mountain top of the chart following its Oscar performance last year.

For Grande, ‘Rain’ serves as her fourth #1 and second in two weeks (she recently topped the tally with Justin Bieber collab ‘Stuck With U’).

Most notably, it means that all of the songbird’s Hot 100 #1’s have premiered in said spot. A huge historical feat in and of itself.

The star now becomes the only artist to debut at #1 four times – powering past Mariah Carey, Justin Bieber, and Drake who she previously tied at three a piece.

It’s Gaga’s second time opening at #1; her first being ‘Born This Way’ in 2011.

Mother Monster now earns the honor of being one of just three  soloists to land #1s in three separate decades (00s, 10s, 20s). She joins Mariah Carey and Beyonce on said list.

Huge congrats! The song is all sorts of deserving.

if that’s not what you call wining then I don’t know what it is. Congratulations to both Gaga and Ari. so many years in the game and Gaga keeps proving everyone wrong. every era they say she’s over and that she’s gonna flop yet she keeps selling and keeps collecting hits we love to see it

    • I+love+big+black+c** June 1, 2020

Yepper! And Only flop hates to see this sh#t. Mood ring will never ever debuted #1, I’ll shave my pretty head if it happened😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

    • Clarks0o0ñ June 1, 2020

Lady gaga has nothing to prove.
Dont get me, this is amazing but gaga has achieved everything achievable.

She has won several grammys and an oscar
      2 golden globes etc.
Several number one songs and several number one albums.

      I’m happy for gaga.

      • Oh plz June 1, 2020

        Arianna Grande collaborations dont go anywhere. A perfect example is;

Good as hell remix- lizzo thought by putting Arianna in the remix the song will hit number one. Arianna brought nothing to the song

Let’s not forget bad to u with nicki minaj and that dancer. The song didnt even chart.

Gaga and Arianna are basically from 2 different worlds, 2 different eras, I dont see this working, especially with gaga’s new disco dance sound.

This will probably be another dont call me angel.

Gaga is so desperate for a hit.

If this goes well, it can be a mega smash hit, if this goes badly it can be a mega flop.

Rain on me looks to have legs and sour candy is doing very well. If she has 1 and 2 spots next week that’s even more history to be made

    • Clarks0o0ñ June 1, 2020

Rain on me will probably retain the number one spot next week

Sour candy will debut in the top 20.

  6. I+love+big+black+c** June 1, 2020

Gaga got talented, arianna got lucky. Come fight me!!!!!

  7. Tori June 1, 2020

Women dominating the H100 this year. If they could actually go out and perform and do interviews to promote, it would be crazy. This is great considering the state of music.

    • POPS+Muva June 1, 2020

      • Fierce June 1, 2020

  8. Hated for my opinion June 1, 2020

Hope we get a Nicki and Gaga feature we deserved that back in 2012. They could’ve had a camp fashion revival tbh….. Nicki call Gaga!

  9. Latinissima June 1, 2020

  11. Clarks0o0ñ June 1, 2020

    Congratulations
I’m so happy for both of them

This is a much more better , well earned number one song than stuck with u that was gotten thru fraudulent means.

damn ,I thought gaga was over but she isnt

First single , stupid love debuted and peaked at number 5
Second single peaked at number 1

    U go GAGA.

I was scared ariana was over saturating herself but I was so wrong.

    A win for both ladies.

  12. Clarks0o0ñ June 1, 2020

Collaborating with ariana was such a smart move

Katy u should collaborate with one of the new pop girls.

Kesha u should do the same.

    • Oh plz June 1, 2020

Remember this, you disingenuous POS?? Imma use every opportunity I have to embarrass TF out of you.

  14. SNF June 1, 2020

    Stay mad…

  15. MessyBoots June 1, 2020

    Congrats Gaga and Ariana!

I would just like yo note that Bey and Mariah Carey are not the only 2 with three No.1s in 3 decades.

    Britney also had 3 No.1s across 3 decades (1999, BOMT 2008, Womanizer 2011, HIAM)

  16. 1988 June 1, 2020

Congratulations on FIVE No. 1’s Gaga (TWO No.1 debuts) and FOUR No. 1 debuts Ariana! 🙂

  17. PinotNoir June 1, 2020

    I C A L L E D I T !

    Ari’s MIMIcry wasn’t done.

    Bad film & beakdown next?

  18. J. Nowell June 2, 2020

Yaaaaasssss queens…..the second I heard these two power houses in that video I immediately knew this would be a number one. So this is no surprise. Those harmonious voices belong at the top of the charts. And that video is so dynamic I loved it.

  19. Elijah June 2, 2020

Gaga is literally a F***** racist. Google lady Gaga black face for all the proof you need. It saddens me that so many white gays stan that disgusting trash bag and they clearly are racist for doing so. So sad. I thought in 2020 we were better
