With ‘Don’t Start Now,’ the lead single from Dua Lipa‘s sophomore album, ‘Future Nostalgia,’ the singer birthed one of the year’s most enduring hits.
Peaking at #2 on the Hot 100 (the highest mark of her career to date), the song went on to make history for making a 20-week run in the top 10 (as we reported here).
Still enjoying buoyancy in the top 20 thanks to strong radio airplay and streams, the latter component has helped push it to a higher rung in the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

On June 30, the RIAA updated its log to reveal Lipa’s ‘Start’ had crossed the organization’s threshold for double Platinum status – meaning it’s sold the equivalent of 2 million records.
The win comes as the fifth time she’s claimed such victory in the last 2 years as previous singles ‘New Rules,’ ‘IDGAF,’ ‘One Kiss (with Calvin Harris),’ and ‘Scared to be Lonely (with Martin Garrix)‘ have been all certified 2x Platinum or higher.
