Hot 100: Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion’s #WAP the First Duet to Debut & Stay at #1 in Over 20 Years

Published: Wednesday 26th Aug 2020 by Rashad

Even in its second week, Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion‘s megahit, ‘WAP,’ is still making waves.

Penciling each of its leaders in Hot 100 history books upon its debut for reasons including first all-female collaboration to be certified Gold its first week, first all-female Rap collaboration to debut at #1, best first-week streaming figures by any song ever, etc. as we reported here, now – in week 2 – the tune’s being etched in the records library for even more.

See what we mean inside:

As we reported here, as of time reported only 42 songs have debuted at #1 on the Hot 100 since its unveiling in 1958 (‘WAP’ being the seventh and latest tune to do so this year).

Among those debuts, only 19 (less than 50%) of them can boast maintaining grip on the top spot for a second week.  Of those lucky 19, only 3 (less than 20%) were credited to more than one artist.
