With her 2-disc album, ‘The Rarities,’ set for an October 2 release, look to see much of Mariah Carey on the promo trail in the coming weeks in its support.
Comprised of a collection of her favorite previously unreleased recordings, the project – which will house tunes from 1990-2020 – will invite fans to explore the diva’s archives of never-before-heard music (some of which has personal relevance that will be further explored in her forthcoming memoir, ‘The Meaning of Mariah Carey’).
One such track is the highly anticipated ‘Save The Day,’ which samples the iconic 1996 Fugees hit ‘Killing Me Softly.’
With her longtime collaborator Jermaine Dupri credited as producer, look inside to hear the “new” song.
I actually like this even though I thought it wasn’t a sample of the “Killing Me Softly” by the Fugees. Great job though MC!!!
I liked the song! This just get me more excited for the unreleased material on this album!!
I’m feeling this. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I absolutely Love this song. Love everything about the layers. Pure Magic😍❤🦋
As a long time lamb I’m so happy!!! What a bop!! 10/10 Mariah will always be relevant!
I loved it from first listen. Good job. Can’t wait to hear what other gems are on the album.
I like it ! I wish the intro wasn’t in her breathy register.
It’s kind of misleading to promote this as a featuring with Lauryn because there’s only a sample of her vocals…
Right! I’m like did I miss something…where Lauryn Hill at 🙄😬😒….still a good song regardless tho.
Another thing is that there’s a lot going on when the sample is used, if you pay attention to Lauryn’s voice in the background you don’t really listen carefully to Mariah.
Cute sample but the breathy voice is not doing it for me.. its too much going on
I see why it was never released. It’s a thumbs downs for me
My feeling exactly.
I know it will be sampling coz ms hill is too lazy or being late all time for her studio booking 😂🤣😂🤣😂
I feel like I misled myself. I thought we were going to actually get Mariah vocals circa 1990s with actual verses and vocals from Lauryn Hill. I thought Ms. Hill would spit some verses and sing. It is just basically an interpolation or killing me softly with Mariah. Song is bad…definitely a grower.

And Mariah said during a live on Instagram that Lauryn recorded vocals for the track this past Spring.
You’d think at least they would use this occasion to do a proper collaboration…
I don’t even know what Lauryn sounds like these day.
Anyway… there’s too much going on with the overuse of the sample.
I hope the tracks that are dated from old eras won’t be overproduced like this one.
That SECOND VERSE took me to the Heavens! A taste of her signature vocal acrobatics, perfected tone in her mid-belt, and lyrical content for days!
LOVE THIS GUH!!!!
Boring like her she need hits
She already have multiple hits DUMBO she doesn’t need to prove herself anymore because she reached the Legendary status.
Best Mariah Carey single in over 10 YEARS (since 2008)! 🙂
The song was a mess. I see why it was kept off the album.
wait a minute!!!!! that was Mariah doing the whoooooaaaaaaaahhh mess….mixed with Lauryn way deep in the bg…but to me it soundslike it’s Mariah herself doing that part as well….. at any rate….talk about the muscial equivalent to “click bait” WE WERE ALLLLLL WAITING FOR LAURYN TO HAVE ACTUAL VERSES….
we are being fed!!! Song a a bop
No…No….and No…
Cute Mash up…..but not a single worth talking about!
@Tre.. – I agree
Everything about Mariah is great, nothing bad to say but for Ms Lauryn…. Is this a joke? It would have been the same without her.
