The rapper’s new album ‘Detroit 2’ has premiered at #1 on the coveted count with total sales of 103,000.
Streaming fuelled its commercial triumph, as 71,000 of the aforementioned sum is attributable to the 93.55 million on-demand streams of the LP’s songs, while 30,000 are traditional pure sales (assisted by merchandise/album bundles).
The project’s chart topping opening means ‘Detroit 2’ is the week’s top selling new release.
Initially, that honor (along with the #1 spot) was forecast in the favor of 6ix9ine – whose surprise set ‘TattleTales’ set off to a fire-fuelled start.
However, it has had to settle for a #4 start and the title of the week’s second biggest debut after launching with 53,000 units sold.
Of that sum, 32,000 are pure sales (propped up by various merchandise/album bundles), while 20,000 was added to the total by way of 32.94 million on-demand streams of the surprise album’s songs.

I miss the good ole days when REAL rappers (i.e KANYE VS 50 CENT) duked it out for #1. For 69 sales to be projected si high at first he must of sold about 90% SPS (50K) on Day 1 leaving 10% divived amonst following 6 days. OUCH!
