After slipping from the main hit list’s top spot for two weeks thanks to BTS‘ explosive hit, ‘Dynamite’ (as we mentioned here), Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion have ridden the wave back to #1 courtesy of their joint hit, ‘WAP.’
As if the song didn’t break Hot 100 history books wide open upon its chart premiere in late August (as we reported here), it’s also penciled in the record logs of Billboard’s newest global tally.
Details inside:
Stateside, the dynamic duo powered back to #1 thanks to a handsome collection of digital downloads, streams, and radio airplay.
See the numbers below:
- Streaming: 48.2 million U.S. streams
- Digital Downloads: 16,000 sold
- Radio Airplay: 27.3 million radio airplay audience impressions
Their domination isn’t limited to the land of the free, however. As proven by Billboard’s inaugural Global 200 chart, the two are seeing their hit, ‘WAP,’ make a splash around the world.
Designed to “rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world,” the placement calculations – much like the Hot 100 – includes data from a weighted formula that is comprised of official streams and digital downloads.
“Cardi B’s “WAP,” featuring Megan Thee Stallion, rules the initial Billboard Global 200 chart. The song leads with 100.9 million global streams and 23,000 global downloads sold in the week ending Sept. 10.
BTS’ “Dynamite” ranks at No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200 with 83.4 million streams and 36,000 sold.
Breaking down the chart’s metrics, “WAP” was the most-streamed song of the week globally and “Dynamite” was the top-selling title.”
