Eve Was “Devastated” After Being Dropped From Dr. Dre’s Record Label For Eminem

‘Who’s That Girl’ emcee Eve has revealed that she was left ‘devastated’ when Dr. Dre dropped her from his Aftermath label shortly after signing Eminem in 1998.

More below…

In the new BET series, ‘The Ruff Ryders Chronicles,’ Eve recalled how the music mogul signed the then 19-year-old rapper to Aftermath Records after hearing a demo that she’d recorded in LA.
Claiming that she worked with Dre in the studio after being signed, she claims it was cut short after Eminem was signed to the imprint
The rapper states:
“I remember that when I was working with Dre, Eminem did get signed, I would literally show up to studio sessions that I wasn’t supposed to be at where I knew Dre was gonna be and be like, ‘So, when am I recording? When are you gonna put me in a song? What’s going on?’

I think he got sick of that and then I got dropped eight months later…”

She went on to add:
“It wasn’t too long after Eminem was signed that I got dropped from Aftermath, and I was devastated. I had to go back home, back to my mom’s house. I had to get back on the bus… it humbled me.”

Eve went on to sign with Ruff Ryders Entertainment in 1998, then the home of DMX, Swizz Beatz and The LOX to name a few. While signed to the label, Eve recorded some of her biggest hits from ‘Let Me Blow Ya Mind’‘Who’s That Girl’ and ‘Gangsta Lovin”.

At least she had success afterwards. I’d be more devastated about being dropped after that Eve-Olution flop mess.

I love Eve and wish her all the success and happiness in life!

It’s a shame record companies can’t focus on more than star….imagine how much more money they would make.
