Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion‘s ‘WAP’ is proving a tsunami-sized hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
Three weeks ago, after a two-week reign, the tune was temporarily unseated from the chart’s summit by explosive BTS smash, ‘Dynamite.’
The empowered sales and streaming that ensured that dethronement was short-lived saw B back at #1 the next week (as we reported here). Now – as the updated chart reveals – ‘WAP’ is staying put for another 7-day frame.
Marking its fourth non-consecutive week as owner of the top spot, look inside to see just what it took to keep BTS at bay:
Notching its 4th week at #1 not only comes as a history-making feat for female acts but also a personal milestone for Cardi.
Regarding the former, ‘WAP’ extends the reign for the longest-running all-female Rap chart-topper in history while for B it’s now her longest-running #1 hit as it surpasses the three-week reign of her debut #1, “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves).”
Among female Rap hits in general, Iggy Azalea‘s ‘Fancy’ and Lizzo‘s ‘Truth Hurts’ remain the historic leaders as both hits respectively logged 7 weeks atop the Hot 100.
See the numbers that made Cardi and Meg’s win a reality below.
- Streaming: 41.5 million U.S. streams
- Radio Airplay: 32.6 million airplay audience impressions
- Sales: 12,000 downloads sold
‘WAP’ also nabbed a second week atop Billboard’s recently introduced ‘Global 200’ chart as well.
