Upon learning her seventh studio album, ‘Lover,’ had been certified Platinum in September 2019 (as we reported here), Taylor Swift entered history books by becoming the female artist to accumulate 7 Platinum (or multi-Platinum) LPs the fastest.
Now, she’s extended that record as her latest opus – ‘Folklore’ – has become the first album of 2020 to sell 1 million copies (as we reported here).
Details inside:
On Monday (October 26), the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) updated its logs to reveal a slew of updated certifications for Swift including the official report her latest album, ‘Folklore,’ is now Platinum in the United States (denoting sales equivalence of 1 million copies in the country).
With the new plaque Taylor joins an exclusive club of divas (Madonna, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, and Rihanna) who watched their first 8 studio albums be certified Platinum or higher. Although Tay and Rih are the only two ladies who accomplished the feat this century, the ‘Cardigan’ crooner did it the fastest.
