Breaking: The Weeknd To Headline The 2021 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Published: Thursday 12th Nov 2020 by Sam

In breaking news, it’s been announced that The Weeknd will be headlining the 2021 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Easily one of the most watched spectacles in the world, ample speculation had surrounded who’d be immortalized on the grandest stage of them all.

Now, it’s official.

The singer will be rocking the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Fla. on Sunday February 7.

Speaking on his colossal engagement, the ‘Blinding Lights’ performer said:

“We all grow up watching the world’s biggest acts playing the Super Bowl and one can only dream of being in that position. I’m humbled, honored and ecstatic to be the center of that infamous stage this year.”

The Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show be executive produced by Roc Nation and Jesse Collins.

In a statement, the Roc’s founder JAY-Z said:

“The Weeknd has introduced a sound all his own. His soulful uniqueness has defined a new generation of greatness in music and artistry,. This is an extraordinary moment in time and the Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show is going to be an extraordinary experience with an extraordinary performer.”

The Weeknd, 30, has enjoyed unprecedented success over the course of his career and this year debuted at #1 with mega-selling album ‘After Hours.’

He’ll be following on from the epic performance rendered by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira at this year’s show and joins the coveted list of Halftime headliners – including Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Prince, Lady Gaga, and Bruno Mars. Suffice to say, he has a tall task ahead of him.

What do you think about The Weeknd’s selection? As ever, let us know…

    This will tanked

Nobody likes it when men perform at the superbowl . Except bruno mars and prince

The superbowl half time show is for ladies.
Female musicians who dance, razzle dazzle, costume changes, spectacles, army of extras and backup dancers, hair flips etc

The weeknd doesnt dance, all he does is walk around the stage waving his hands.

    • Nicky November 12, 2020

No. Camicky the Clown will never be invited to perform. She doesn’t “razzle dazzle” either 😂😂

      You mad?

      Lmaooooooooooooooooo

Anyways. Drake would be great to perform. Men and women love him.

      • Clarks0o0ñ November 12, 2020

      • 🍭marilyn monh-O-E🍭(💫Perfectly Splendid✨) November 12, 2020

He will invite his ex selena Gomez do that Latin dance 💃🏼 tho, not Camilla. They are on the different levels

    • Susan November 12, 2020

      “Razzle Dazzle” LOL. Flamethrowing queen

    • FMcL November 12, 2020

Wait, so no one liked Michael Jackson? 🤨🤔

  3. 🍭marilyn monh-O-E🍭(💫Perfectly Splendid✨) November 12, 2020

It would be nice if selena Gomez jumps on the stage singing lose u to love me off keys 💋💋but sorry selena, she wasnt invited but doja cat might has a chance💅🏿💅🏿💅🏿

  4. Gee November 12, 2020

I don’t think that this was the best choice. Maybe he will prove all of his critics, and naysayers wrong. The only men who have been able to rock the SB halftime show Prince, MJ, and Bruno Mars.

  5. K’’man November 12, 2020

Somewhere J.Lo is pissed because she had to share the stage with shakira and The Weeknd is by himself. I really hope he brings out Lana Del Rey, they have like 5 songs together. But looking forward to see who he brings out

    • 🍭marilyn monh-O-E🍭(💫Perfectly Splendid✨) November 12, 2020

Lana Del Rey??? No way!!! Hunny it’s a super bowl not Church choir. She’s gonna put everybody to sleep 😴

      • Gworl Bye November 12, 2020

You say that as if the weekend isn’t gonna put everyone in a coma.

    • jungkook November 12, 2020

Because jennifer had to share with the roc nation signed goatkira plus jayz obviously won’t let her shine , she is toe to toe with copyonce as a performer or maybe better. You can see this at vmas vanguard awards jennifer is so performer with energy around the stage walking, jumping or dance, in the other hand beyonce needs more lights, dancers, cinematics.

  6. TORi November 12, 2020

…and do what? No, seriously, WHAT IS HE GOING TO DO? Who actually enjoys The Weeknd LIVE?

    • Gworl Bye November 12, 2020

Exactly, I can’t even begin to imagine how bad this is gonna suck lol.

  7. “GG” November 12, 2020

I’m not excited would have rather seen Mariah, Rihanna, or Ciara!! He doesn’t really have a Legacy “yet” like that to headline the Super Bowl.

  8. Pat November 12, 2020

Safe choice and he has the hits

  9. DC3 FOREVER November 12, 2020

    GREAT CHOICE!!

  10. Fancy BISH November 12, 2020

    Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas lol 🤴🏾❤️🤳🏽🎶💋

I was rooting for Pink who has a lot more star power. Pink made history last fall coming off of the Beautiful Trauma tour which earned $397.3 million from a little more than 70 North American shows. The Weeknd was averaging just $1.1 million for each of his U.S. stops on the Starboy tour during the same period as Pink. Pink has sold over 16 million albums in the U.S. compared to the Weeknd’s total of 6.2 million. So what merits the Weeknd to have a Superbowl halftime show before Pink?

  12. POPS+MUVA November 12, 2020

I’m sorry but it is too early for him. If we look at the Icons and Legends that took the stage and then we see him.. idk.. he needs more time. maybe a few more albums

  13. Gworl Bye November 12, 2020

MAJOR snoozefest. It’s gonna be worse than justin timberlakes show. 😴😴😴😴😴

    • Clarks0o0ñ November 12, 2020

Maroon 5 and cold play say hi

Men (except bruno mars and prince) have no business headlining the superbowl half time show

  14. Diabetes UNBOTHERED November 12, 2020

for me the Superbowl Halftime show is only interesting EVERY OTHER YEAR. I’m only excited to see Weekend cause I Know he will have to WORK HARD in terms of props and theatrics since he cant sng or dance. If MAYOdonna can do it and still BORE me I think Weekend will actually be entertaining for some reason. We’ll see.

    • #6KYONCE November 12, 2020

Lmaoooo chile its gonna tank harder than that 6k selling flopped roach you stan lmfaoooooooo 😂😂😂

      • Diabetes UNBOTHERED November 12, 2020

keep that SAME energy up when The Queen makes that COMEBACK with B#7… i already call it ‘THE EMANCIPATION OF BIBI’…

*BLAST DONT FORGET ABOUT US* (My fav Mariah Song*)

        #LEGENDS NEVER FLOP…

        🤗

  15. Susan November 12, 2020

Maybe im in the minority, but I think it’s too soon for him to be headlining the superbowl. If JLO and Shakira had to co-headline, this newcomer should have to co-headline.

    • PinotNoir November 12, 2020

You are not in the minority.

    • FMcL November 12, 2020

It was too soon for Gaga but killed it !

  16. Haterz Gon’ Hate November 12, 2020

Lord how they got it twisted thinking chart success translates into STAGE PRESENCE and being an ENTERTAINER 💁🏾‍♀️ His pitchy falsetto a** about to be dry AF and this can only be saved if he brings out LOTS of guests to cover up the fact that you bout to clean out your oven and refrigerator back2back for a month before you buy tickets to see Abelina live 😴😴😴😴😴😴😴

    • Fancy BISH November 12, 2020

      Shut it FATSO.

  17. J.D.J.K.B. November 12, 2020

My Number 1 favorite male entertainer. I cant wait…Its only right ..

  18. Tino November 12, 2020

Lol this fool is about to get dragged when the world finally hear that awful singing voice and boring on stage live performance.

  19. Blaine Kelley November 12, 2020

    This doesn’t excite me…

Does anyone else get the inkling that he might bring out Arianna as his guest since they’ve got a couple songs together and she’s the IT girl of the last 2 years?

  20. Lol November 12, 2020

Absolutely not. He can’t sing or dance. But he has a white fan base so I’m not surprised.

  21. Claude Remains November 12, 2020

C********** cases are still increasing across the country. Are people really dumb enough to think that there is going to be a Super Bowl in less than 3 months!!!!

  22. TruthTea November 12, 2020

I don’t see the problem with the Weeknd, he has hits stacked plus five #1s. Bruno Mars did it after only two albums and no one can do the Super Bowl worse than Justin Timberlake, he set the bar low for The Weeknd to walk over.

The Weeknd’s challenge will be that he is not a family artist with energy that can carry over, so this performance will have to be an evolution for him, not just sonically and visually impressive but something that really brings the energy to an audience of all ages, old and young. This is not the stage to play ’the Hills/Heartless’ and be nasty, this is more of a ‘Starboy/Can’t Feel My Face/Blinding Lights’ maybe make amends w: Ariana Grande and do ‘Love Me Harder’. Not sure what his finale would be. Earned It might be too risky.

  23. Fancy BISH November 12, 2020

I guess they couldn’t find anyone with flavour.

  24. al February 7, 2021

    he sucked
