It’s really unfortunate that you feel this way. The other awards shows hardly recognize our talent meanwhile Soul Train NEVER misses. We should take pride in celebrating our own instead of begging for “THEIR” inclusion. The show was fabulous per usual. You missed out on a treat.

Soul Train knows how to put on a show. Even with the circumstances (C****) the artists gave us their best! Brandy, Jazmine, Snoh, Lucky Daye, Monica – just amazing. I love us for real.
Is Brandy unable to sing without the theatrics? Honey this ain’t Broadway. Just sing the normal arrangement what the f***. I felt the same about her BBA performance too. That s*** is irksome.
Thank you! This new age Brandy I just can’t get with. Ever since her delusional fans started calling her the vocal pamphlet she’s been doing too much. Biggest turnoff in a vocalist is someone who doesn’t know control and just goes off the rip doing all these extra runs and inflections to the point where you don’t even know what song they’re singing anymore and Brandy is the queen of that these days. It’s aggy. I miss Debut – Full Moon Brandy.
It’s not even about the runs. It’s about the performances period. Her creative director should be fired. A beautiful song like Borderline should be translated as such in stage instead she rearranged the entire arrangement and made the vocal harder than it needed to be.
It was the mic drop at the end for me…
Urban artists need to show Soul train major respect for honoring them the way that they do. Because The Grammys never give show urban music, or artists the same respect, and never will.

While I have always been more of a brandy fan MONICA really did her thing not too much well put together and she got behind that Panio (while I was not a fan of how much she lowered the KEY of the songs and showed very little vocal range ) the set was great I didn’t understand why Brandy needed to lip sync I think if she did a little less it would go a lot further

I was thinking of Whitney’s graceful appearance for the I Look to You album shoot. Monica’s posture, energy and attitude was so much like Whitney. Everything up to “Trenches” and “So Gone” was mesmerizing.

Jazmine’s short film performance works much better than the music video. I enjoyed her and Monica the most. They both and looked and sounded incredible!

Brandy DID NOT lip sync.
She sang over a backing track. At one point in the performance you even see her acknowledge it by putting the mic away from her mouth and nodding to the backing vocal during the chorus.
She ad libbed the heck out of the song and totally changed the arrangement in certain parts of the song.
Many live performers [including Queen Bey] employ that technique.
Brandy did not mime Say Something/Boderline…. she SANG over a backing track. You clearly hear LIVE runs and ad libs throughout. Get over it.

Sorry but this wasnt a live performance with a backing assist. It was a lip sync job. You can tell from the acoustics and the slight disconnect between her “vocal acting” and the audio. Good dramatic performance though.
To all the brandy haters on here you can be so ridiculous at times which is actually getting boring. Please do go back and watch the performance clearly once again before you start accusing her of something she actuarial lly DID NOT do at this performance.

While most on this post are battling over which junior diva was better, I enjoyed them both. Brandy has better current music and I like the theatrics whereas Monica had a strong, classic look and performance overall. Jasmine submitted a music video (boooooo) and Snoh should be embarrassed to turn that in for the SOUL train awards. That clip was some American Music Awards, pandemic talk show crap. Very disappointed in her because I know she can do better.
