Sam Smith is on a roll.

The singer-songwriter has just nabbed their third top 5 effort on the Billboard 200 chart, with ‘Love Goes.’

Full story below:

Released on October 30, the LP was supported by several singles, including: ‘My Oasis’ featuring Burna Boy and ‘Diamonds.’

The set premiered at #5 with total sales of…

41,000
[Sales Plus Streams]
******
18,000
[Pure Sales]

The album benefited largely from streaming with 29.66 million on-demand streams equating to 22,000 in sales.

Despite reaching the top 5, ‘Love Goes’ debuted with much lower sales than Smith’s past releases. Their first album, ‘In the Lonely Hour,’ debuted at #2 in 2014 with 166,000 copies sold and ‘The Thrill of It All’ debuted with 237,000 units in 2017.

Still, the album is a solid effort and congratulations are in order.

Very disappointed in the album. It was all over the place. Tracks were in the wrong place and all of his bonus tracks were the actual good songs.

Why do record labels never learn! Unless you’re Rihanna or Beyonce, starting an album campaign/releasing singles then delaying an album months NEVER results in good commercial results. The album was definitely a bit generic and too many missteps like “so serious”, “I’m ready”, “kids again”. They should have released “Another one” after “Dancing with a Stranger” and just released the album.

Its because of coronà, that’s why the album was delayed

Sam tried to save this era but doing an image and sound revamp but it was too late.
The whole , look at me I am not him or she, I am they, really pìssed people of especially his straight fan base.

I know that but there really was no reason to delay. They could have released the singles on the “I’m Ready” EP and then realised a full album with additional tracks later.

Youre right though, they did themselves no favour with the diva act.
