While the music industry (and the world) buckled under the pressures of the global health crisis, women took charge, made their voices heard, and made their presences felt in ways like never before in 2020.
Their collective efforts gave the annual Billboard Women in Music event that much more significance – a measure reiterated throughout the December 10th livestream by hostess Teyana Taylor as well as presenters Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, Bernie Sanders, Maluma, and more who took to the ceremony to tribute the night’s honorees: Cardi B (click here to watch), Dolly Parton, Jessie Reyez, Chloe x Halle (click here to watch), Dua Lipa, and Jennifer Lopez.
Lipa and Lopez – on hand to receive the ‘Powerhouse’ and ‘Icon’ awards respectively – gave two of the night’s most moving acceptance speeches.
