Who will win: Taylor Swift -‘Cardigan’

Garnering six total nominations at this year’s ceremony, Swift is primed to pick up at least one trophy in the major categories, if not more. Released as the lead single from her acclaimed ‘Folklore’ album, ‘Cardigan’ is Swift’s fifth nomination in this category. So, eventually the odds will be in her favor and ‘Cardigan’s critical and commercial success appears to be swaying them her way.

Who should win: Taylor Swift – ‘Cardigan’

Love her or hate her, Swift gave the public a landmark album with ‘Folklore’ and ‘Cardigan’ is a prime example of this. The song showed a new angle Swift’s sentimentality with it being shown in a more mature and confident light. While the other nominees showcased their songwriting in their own way, Swift’s poetic prowess stands above the rest and goes on to prove how a small town girl from Pennsylvania is on her way to becoming the songwriting legened she was always meant to be.

Dark Horse: Beyoné – ‘Black Parade’

While Swift seems poised to pick up the trophy at this year’s ceremony, but the only other candidate that could stand in her way – based on songwriting alone – is Beyoncé. The larger-than-life icon delivered a combination of power, pride, and generosity by releasing her charity single ‘Black Parade.’ The song’s lyrics explore the rich beauty and strength that exists within Black culture. Coming off of the #BlackLivesMatter movement, Queen Bey not only helps drive the vehicle of change, but she could cruise past the competition to the winner’s circle to take home the trophy this year.
