After much ado, Taylor Swift fans – affectionately called #Swifties – finally get their hands on her latest musical venture, ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version).’
The inaugural retake in a series of re-recorded editions of her first six albums, the revamp comes as her answer to reports her master recordings were sold by music mogul Scooter Braun.
In addition to housing re-records of every song from her 2008 sophomore album, ‘Taylor’s Version’ also features tracks that were recorded for the LP’s platinum edition as well as other previously unheard music.
Now, the 26-track affair is available for your listening pleasure via Apple Music and Spotify.
Well the good thing about Taylor’s lack of vocal growth is that she went back in and sound exactly the same as the original recording from way back the. Kudos I suppose
I totally agreed! Same teenager voice. There’s no need For a re-cording album since fearless is already an iconic album. It’s all about money…… I have a feeling she’s gonna re-record her debut, speak now, red…. sooner or later
Thanks Sherlock. She’s already said that’s what she intends to do so she can own the masters to her music. Masters give you ultimate control over who can cover, record, release and license your music. When Big Machine was sold to Ithaca, the masters to Swifts albums were also sold meaning she has very little creative control. By re-recording the albums (and giving fan extras like unreleased tracks) she ensures that fans will listen to her versions- which she will earn the most money from. It also means whoever has bought her masters will have likely lost out because of the negative narrative around the whole issue. Licensors will want to use the swift-owned versions instead meaning the old masters are virtually worthless.
Iconic!!
I’m so over this conversation. Should we expect that her output over the next few years will be re-records? Snooze
