Weeks ahead of Keziah’s birth, Fannie and husband Kendall Taylor graced the cover and pages of ‘MB’ magazine with a stunning collection of maternity shots lensed by Robin V.  While its pages were lined with discussions about how the singer balances marriage and motherhood, a behind the scenes interview with the publication saw the 36-year-old dish about the next chapter of her music career (as seen in the short clip above).

To the surprise of viewers, she revealed her next project – the follow-up to 2019’s critically acclaimed ‘Sketchbook‘ – would be her long-awaited Gospel album.

The effort will come after years of calls for Inspirational material from the ‘American Idol’ alum as she has not only collaborated with a number of top-named Gospel artists over her nearly 20-year career (see: Yolanda Adams, Michelle Williams, VaShawn Mitchell, etc.), but has also made Worship music a mainstay in her live concerts.

She is more of a mess than her “career.”

LMAO 😭 girl puh-leeze. Not this $hit again. Fanny is joy, positivity and light. So color me unsurprised that Satanic-Trick-Shayla dislikes her. Carry on girl 💋💋

Her vocal style would fit Gospel music better. The modern style of R&B doesn’t really compliment her vocal style.

Her biggest hit is ‘When I See You’, the song doesn’t really showcase her full potential as a vocalists, although I love that song.

Her biggest hit is “I Believe,” which debuted at #1 on the BIllboard Hot 100 thanks to her Ido win in 2004, when the show was #1. Her next biggest hit is “Truth Is” ( #21), followed by “When I See You” (#32). Those are her only top 40 entries.

She hasn’t seen the inside of the Top 40 in 15 years. Total flop compared to Idol winners Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.

I don’t even remember ‘I Believe’ & I completely forgot about Truth Is.

Great! Gospel is her true calling. I just hope it’s a real gospel album and the refurbished r&b that’s been trying to pass as goespel these days.

    • IJS May 25, 2021

      And NOT the refurbished….

I’ve always felt that Gospel is her calling anyways, She’s very anointed, but having one foot in and one foot out, This is why she carries the audience to church at some point into all her performances. Besides, she’s never found her nitche as an R&B singer either because God did not bless her with the voice to do singular music. She would have been much more successful had she been a Gospel artist to began with

she did find her niche in rnb. Fantasia got hella rnb classics…free yourself, truth is, when i see you, bby mama, bittersweet, collard greens and cornbread, lose to win and the list goes on. two platinum albums & one gold. Grammy award winner.

      • True Tea May 25, 2021

She has hits but no real classic soul ballads like Aretha, Patti, Whitney, etc.

      • Your Name May 26, 2021

Why are you comparing her to artists old enough to be her grandmother? Fantasia does have R&B CLASSICS. “When I See You” is undeniably an R&B classic. That’s her lane. She’s done well in it.

Quiet as it’s kept, Patti (whom she is often compared to) mostly has local R&B hits herself. Her biggest hit was “On My Own” with Michael MacDonald.
