Stream: Doja Cat’s New Album ‘Planet Her’

Published: Thursday 24th Jun 2021 by Rashad

Doja Cat clawed her way to the top of many-a-year-end hitlist in 2020 thanks to her breakthrough sophomore album, 2019’s ‘Hot Pink.’

Fueled by the mega success of its inescapable hit single, ‘Say So’ (which eventually powered its way to #1 on the Hot 100 thanks to help from fellow rapstress Nicki Minaj), ‘Hot Pink’ was eventually painted in the #9 slot on the Billboard 200 – making it her first top 10 and highest rank reached on the tally to date.

Quick to capitalize on its success, Doja completed a whirlwind award show promotional tour by launching right into its parent album’s follow-up era, ‘Planet Her.’

Hitting shelves Friday (June 25), ‘Planet’ has not only built buzz on the backs of its top 40 hit ‘Need to Know’ and the SZA-assisted top 5 hit ‘Kiss Me More,’ but also a tracklist that features the likes of Young Thug, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and more.

Curious to see how her new project stacks up against its critically acclaimed predecessor? Look inside to stream it via Spotify and Apple Music.

What a rushed, unorganized, disappointing playlist of an album.

I told yall at the beginning of the year that doja gonna drop an album before normani cause RCA records are focusing all their energy and resources on doja.

    🤣🤣
I was right, once again 😌💅

Sza will likely drop her album before normani also. 🤣💀

U see what happens when u flop, the label puts u on the back burner and focuses on other girls who are showing potential

Let them get a few projects out of the way. It just means they’re saving the best for last.

      • Clarks0o00ñ June 25, 2021

Honey, that’s not how it works
        🤣🤣
U normani stans are always delusional.

        It is called priority.
Doja cat is the number 1 priority at RCA records and that’s why her project is gonna drop first with huge promo, Payola, playlisting etc.
There is huge demand for doja cat’s music and that’s why the label is pushing it out quickly.

Normani is not a priority at RCA records that’s why her project has probably been shelved
There’s no demand for normani’s music.
People on Twitter shouting “were is the album, drop the album” is not demand.

You’re weird you just were saying how Justin Timberlake is going to hell for Janet and Britney’s troubles get you sit up here and attack Normani endlessly. I truly hope you pay for the negative vibes and energy you put out everyday

    It’s ok. 6/10

It’s a “cute” album, but there’s really no standouts. Doja plays with a lot of genres, which works for her and against her. On one hand, the pop/r&b/hip hop influence makes for a dynamic and interesting listen.

On the other hand, she’s serving some serious, “Jack of All Trades, Master of Nothing” vibes. It’s like when it comes to her music, she’s good at everything, but great at nothing. The songs themselves are Ok. As a rapper, her lyrics are Ok. As a singer, her vocals are Ok.

Structurally, her songs also seem like they have no climax. They stay at the same level from start to finish. Which also contributes to the ok-ness of this album. It’s like listening to a bunch of demos.

        VERY INTERESTING AND ACCURATE ANALYSIS❗

It’s better than Ari’s last album. There’s some filler but definitely 2-3 more singles on there that could benefit from a great visual to bring the track to life.

    • Haterz Gon’ Hate June 25, 2021

LOLing at lyrics to “Ain’t S***”: “I’m not gon’ key your car, I’ll call your f*****’ Mom, you should have paid my rent, go get a fūxîñ job!!! 👉🏾” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I honestly didn’t keep up with this album, even though I think the cover is super dope and not cheap looking. This has been the only place to get updates on the album, no one is seems to care until the release out of curiosity. I don’t think this needs to be promoted, it just needs to die down and be a treat for fans. She definitely dropped the ball but it’s not downright career flopping so she can go back and come better!

    • Farrahs Luggage June 25, 2021

No it just proves Doja ain’t 💩

      • Tori June 25, 2021

🤣🤣🤣🤦🏾‍♂️ I was trying to be nice but 🤷🏾‍♂️❗

    Thank God for Spotify previews!

    ☆Say So☆ is her 1-hit wonder.

    Won’t be buying.

  8. J June 25, 2021

She should put “Say So” on the deluxe 😂

I’ll listen to it next week

  9. Slim June 25, 2021

This body of music is fire 🔥. I love every song. Hope she’s number one and gets Grammys got this one. Talent . One of the best I’ve heard in awhile. Her and the weekend . Her and ari. The woman song favs .All fire

  10. Charli Cheer Up June 26, 2021

Love it! I definitely sense some growth in her artistry in this album but still retaining her stamp and making it sound like a Doja Cat record. Just cuz Say So blew up doesn’t mean that she has to record half an album of songs like those.
