As reported, the 21-year-old sprinting sensation was handed a one-month suspension from the forthcoming Tokyo Olympics after testing positive for marijuana use.
Initially, it was thought that the reprimand would only rule her out of singles competition.
However, officials confirmed yesterday that a number of technicalities about the team picking process meant she also wouldn’t be able to participate in the relay competition. Meaning she would not be heading to the Olympics in Tokyo at all.
Quizzed about the situation while signing autographs for fans, RiRi replied:
“It sucks, you know. All is not lost, though. Everything happens for a reason.”
