Here at That Grape Juice, we love all things R&B! So, fittingly, we’ve teamed up with DJ Ace – one of the UK’s most revered R&B connoisseurs and host of BBC 1Xtra‘s weekly series Everything RNB (which airs Sundays at 10pm).

Your boy Ace is back! I’m gonna let you know what R&B tracks have caught my attention this week, and have made it into my #SPOTLIGHT3.

Blxst & Bino Rideaux – Program

‘Program’ is taken from ‘Sixtape 2’, a joint project with Blxst and Bino Rideaux. L.A native Blxst is making waves in the industry and has collaborated with the likes of Ty Dolla $ign, Tyga, and Eric Bellinger. Bino Rideaux is a rapper also hailing from L.A, is a close friend of the late Nipsey Hussle.

Angel Silvera – One Sided

Angel Silvera is one to watch. ‘One Sided’ is her first release since 2018. She seems to have been using this time to develop her unique sound. Last year, she toured with the legendary group Gorillaz.

BJ The Chicago Kid – Make You Feel Good (ft. Lucky Daye)

‘Make You Feel Good’ is taken from BJ’s 4-track 4am EP which dropped yesterday (July 23). The project also hosts a collaboration with my guy Eric Bellinger.

Catch me on BBC Radio 1Xtra on Sunday night from 10pm. I’ll be joined by Joel Culpepper, and we’ll be chopping it up about his new project ‘Sgt Culpepper.’

It’s been an eventful few weeks in the world of R&B, with new music dropping left and right. Your boy Ace is back to let you know what tracks you should be checking out with my #SPOTLIGHT3.

Ray BLK – M.I.A (ft. Kaash Paige)

This track has been my ‘Ace In The Pack’ all week on BBC Radio 1Xtra. It features a dope new artist from the U.S by the name of Kaash Paige. Ray BLK has announced her debut album entitled ‘Access Denied’, which drops in September.

Amaal – Honey

‘Honey’ is the latest single from Somali-Canadian artist, Amaal. I had the pleasure of chopping it up with her this week and I’ll be pressing play on the full interview this Sunday, on The 1Xtra R&B show at 10pm.

Mahalia – Whenever You’re Ready

‘Whenever you’re ready’ samples the late 90s track, ‘Get It On Tonite’ by Montell Jordan. Mahalia co-wrote this song with her friend and fellow U.K artist MNEK. Hopefully, the release of new music means a new project is coming soon.

It’s that time of the week again where I put you on to some new R&B tracks for my #SPOTLIGHT3.

Brent Faiyaz – Wasting Time (ft. Drake)

My first pick takes us across the pond. One of my previous #EverythingRnB guests, Brent Faiyaz linked up with Drake on ‘Wasting Time’ produced by The Neptunes.

Jazmine Sullivan – Tragic

Following the release of her huge project ‘Heaux Tales’, Jazmine has treated us to another soulful track entitled ‘Tragic’, with inspiration seemingly drawn from a viral clip involving U.S politician, Maxine Waters.

Jerome Thomas – Secret

This is an EXCLUSIVE… Lock into #EverythingRnB at 10pm, this Sunday night on BBC Radio 1xtra to hear one of it’s first plays. This track has an old-school D’Angelo kinda feel. Jerome Thomas, who hails from Dalston, drops his upcoming E.P ‘That Secret Sauce’ on July 9. Make sure you look out for that, but in the meantime, you may wanna check out his latest single ‘Secret.’
