Aaliyah’s ‘One In a Million’
Predicted First Week Sales (SPS): 25,000 units
Predicted Billboard 200 Debut: #10
Thanks to a highly touted, long-awaited release to digital outlets (namely streaming platforms), the Timbaland and Missy Elliott-produced opus was so warmly received it topped the real-time performance tallies of iTunes, Amazon, and other digital music services.
According to industry analysts, the reignited interest in ‘One In a Million’ will see it land at #1 on the R&B Albums chart and #10 on the refreshed Billboard 200 (which will be unveiled Sunday, August 29). If the prediction rings true, it will make the album her third top 10 hit on the chart, following her chart-topping third effort, ‘Aaliyah,’ and the posthumously released compilation effort, ‘I Care 4 U’ (#3 peak).
At writing, ‘One in a Million’ was already certified double Platinum in the United States – a measure that denotes sales of 2 million in the country. Streaming will undoubtedly help push the critically acclaimed LP to the next certification tier.
