Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper‘s ‘A Star Is Born’ may have found love from critics and fans alike; however, Barbra Streisand is not one of them.
During her appearance on the Australian talk show ‘The Sunday Project,’ the GRAMMY-winner slammed the remake and went as far as to say it was “the wrong idea.”
Her words below…
“At first, when I heard it was going to be done again, it was supposed to be Will Smith and Beyoncé, and I thought, that’s interesting. Really make it different again, different kind of music, integrated actors, I thought that was a great idea.”
“So, I was surprised when I saw how alike it was to the version that I did in 1976.”
Babs then went on to say she “thought it was the wrong idea,” but that she “can’t argue with success” after the project earned Mother Monster her first Academy Award for her song ‘Shallow.’
Later on, she continued by saying:
“I don’t care so much about success as I do originality.”
During the films promotional interviews, both Gaga and Cooper have gone on record with Entertainment Weekly praising Streisand after she visited the set.
It is worth noting that Streisand previously did shower the film with praise, saying:
“Of course I’ve seen it. I loved it. I think it’s wonderful. She’s wonderful.”

She loved it because they did a good job. Shes dragging it because it lacked originality. It was too similar to the one she did. Whereas Beyonce and Will Smith being black rap and rnb stars wouldve put a different spin on a story done several times already. All by white actors.
