What’s a Kanye West release without controversy?
The rapper’s ‘Donda’ album made its long-awaited debut today, after a month-long delay.
Ye made quite the spectacle of the project’s imminent arrival with a series of stadium “listening” events – all of which drummed up ample buzz, but notably did not confirm a release for the project.
So, fans rejoiced in earnest when the LP landed today.
One person not happy, however, was West himself.
Find out why below…
Taking to Instagram moments ago, he wrote:
“Universal put my album out without my approval and they blocked Jail 2 from being on the album.”
The original ‘Jail’ features JAY-Z, while it’s notable that the “Jail 2” he mentioned appears to reference the DaBaby version he previously previewed.
Oddly, as at writing, That Grape Juice can confirm that the track is available to play on the streaming version of the project:
Kanye THE GOAT 🐐 Leading you 🐑
A hot, funky, ghetto mess.
Thank god! Good for universal!
He had all the time in the world to record the album. He had all the material he wished for including the sample from Lauryn Hill and all a lot of featuring artists.
3 listening parties, 1 Kardashian dressed in a wedding gown, 1 bigot and homophobe and 1 accused sexual m o l e s t e r later no album was out!
The same album he had postponed and canceled several times since at least 2016..
More labels should do what Universal did and refuse to be kidnapped by these self called “genius” 🙌🏻
Shut up mad man! Probably working on Donda version 98.928
The album is named after his mother they could have given him a little bit more control.
