While Silk Sonic‘s latest single, ‘Skate,’ is already set to roll out of the top 40 after just 4 weeks on the Hot 100, the duo – comprised of GRAMMY winners Bruno Mars and Anderson. Paak – are still watching their joint debut single, ‘Leave the Door Open,’ refuse to leave the top 20.
Found at #15 on the refreshed Pop chart 25 weeks after its premiere (as we reported here), the song’s grip on the chart region – due to enduring digital sales and handsome streaming figures – is just what helped hoist it to multi-Platinum status as recently revealed by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
More inside:
Taking to press Monday (August 30), the RIAA announced ‘Open’ had opened the door to 2x Platinum status – meaning it’s sold the equivalence of 2 million copies in the United States alone.
Credited to the group as well as its individual performers, for Mars – who ranks as one of the best-selling acts of the digital era – the win comes as the 17th song of his career to reach multi-Platinum status. For Paak, the victory is a personal milestone as it’s his first single to cross the Platinum and multi-Platinum threshold.
The upgraded certification comes as proof of the anticipation for Sonic’s first studio album, which was recently pushed back to 2022. Click here to read more about that.

Skate is flopping. Pretty soon people will get tired of Bruno constant stealing from 60’s, 70’s and 80’s artist.
